What's up, gang!

I hope you all will join me in wishing "best of luck and GO GET EM!" to the Cowboy Wrestlers as they head to Butte for the State wrestling tournament this weekend.

Shane Cooley and Chris Kurkowski appear to be the 2 Cowboy grapplers with the best records on the year, and perhaps have the strongest chances at individual championships. Word is that several of their teammates have been coming-on strong of late; Marty Etchemedy, David Preller, Layne "The Hammer" Johnson and Robert Nalewaja to name a few.

Slosh - I'll be checking the Star and Gazette sites for results as the weekend gets here. Keep us posted when you can.

One other thing, if anyone is travelling to Butte for the tourney, PLEASE drive safe! That's been known to be a dangerous drive.

GO GET 'EM COWBOYS!!!

...no comment from the Cowboy backers, eh?

...anyway, congratulations are in order! We do have a state champion - Chris Kurkowski captured the gold in the 285 class.

Elsewhere, Shane Cooley finished a great season as the runner-up at 152. He lost the championship match in a close one to a Frenchtown opponent who finished the season undefeated.

Other Cowboy placewinners included:

- Marty Etchemendy, 3rd place at 130.
- Robert Nalewaja, 4th at 135.
- David Preller, 5th at 145.
- Layne Johnson, 5th at 171.

Several other Cowboy wrestlers competed and won matches. The result was an 8th place finish in the team standings. Congratulations to the young Cowboy team on a good season! Well done!

A new state team champion was crowned: Laurel won the team trophy! Havre will do without the championship for the first time in 5 years. The Blue Ponies finished as the runner up this time.
