Has anyone else been watching this on Starz? It brings new meaning to the Capt. Clarence Oveur line, "Do you watch gladiator movies?"

It is very adult, but awesome.

I do and I love it. This is the second year it has been on and so far I have to say I preferred the first season must more.

I agree with you sodapop. I too enjoy the first season better and both are on Netflix now. You can watch all of it together.

Isn't GoA kind of a prequel to Blood & Sand? I haven't seen Blood and Sand yet.

Yes, Gods of the Arena is a prequel, which was necessitated by the fact that the star of Blood & Sand, Andy Whitfield, was fighting cancer and could not film a second season at the time. Although thought cancer-free for a brief period, his cancer has returned, and he will no longer be able to play the role of Spartacus. In the meantime, the prequel was filmed and is now airing, while they have recast the lead role for Blood & Sand, the second season of which they will start filming in the near future.

I was a huge Blood & Sand fan and loved Andy Whitfield. I cannot imagine his replacement being successful, but wish him the best. I tried to watch the first episode of Gods of the Arena. I was interrupted, but from what I saw, I thought Blood & Sand was superior. I will have to give it another chance.

KEWL! Thanks for the information. So I don't get too confused, I've decided to wait until GoA is done before watching Blood & Sand. However, I've got it on my Netflix list.

I watched the first episode of Blood and Sand and thought it was dumb so I didn't go back for several months but after hearing multiple good reviews I gave it another shot and I did enjoy it quite a bit. Personally though, I think Batiatus is a more interesting character than Spartacus so far so I am still liking Gods of the Arena. I'll reserve judgment on Andy's replacement until I see him I guess, but it's a shame that he wasn't able to continue.

If you are going to watch GoA first, try not to pay much attention to the first part of the first episode since they basically spoil most of B&S in the first few minutes. It's pretty lame that they did that since it seems perfectly reasonable to me that people would want to watch the prequel before season 1 in the DVD market.

I completely agree with you Levi. I gave the first episode of B&S a try and wasn't that impressed. It wasn't until about the third episode that I really started to enjoy the series, and by the end, loved it.

Was it Quintus and Lucrecia Batiatus that were dead at the very end of the final episode? Looked like them, but I wasn't sure.

yes it was like a flash back. At the end of the Blood and Sand episodes they were killed so I think it was supose to be him seeing his life flash before his eyes kinda thing.

Just discovered tonight that SGA is now available to stream on Netflix! I'm on Episode 5 of Blood and Sand and I'm really glad I saw Gods of The Arena first.

Yeah, it's very lame IMO that they decided to spoil the ending of Blood & Sand in both the first and last episodes of GotA, not to mention that it is extremely confusing if you hadn't seen B&S previously.

Definitely agree with Levi for those people watching GoA before B&S. That was an uncool spoiler.

I actually don't mind it. I know they are going to die, but the interesting part is HOW. What events transpire? (rhetorical) I'm excited to see the twists and turns that lead up to it. Just my $0.02.

That is to bad. Even if Starz makes a second season with a new actor, I don't know if it will be the same without him.

Bummer. I watched a bit of the Spartacus panel from Comic-Con and they talked like he was doing better.

On a lighter note, I just received an email from Amazon.com telling me that GOA shipped today.
