Looking for a building for non-profit operation.

There is a small group of people in Miles City looking at starting a non-profit business to provide a venue to recycle and/or refurbish computers and related equipment. Refurbished equipment will be donated to the underserved folks in our area through several different programs. Other services offered would be training in various programs (Word, Excel, etc), computer building and repair. Volunteer opportunities will abound! The first step is finding a suitable building to operate from. The ideal building would be approximately 10,000 sq ft with some office space, warehouse space and a truck loading dock. This building should be available at little or no cost. If anybody knows of an available building or you are interested in getting involved, please contact Dawn at kdc[email protected] or 232-0006. Thank you!!!

This sounds like quite a stumbling box. I don't know of anyone in Miles City who owns 10,000 square feet they are willing to donate.

yep - I know! I am willing to compromise on a some points but the cost is a HUGE factor! This is always an issue for non-profits.

What about one of the other buildings (around the proposed swimming pool) on the old Pine Hills complex? Does Custer County now own them?

Do you really need full time space? Seems like the computer refurbishing could be done at home and maybe the computer skills classes are duplicating something that might be available at MCC already? Don't get me wrong, it sounds like a good idea, but 10,000 square feet of free office space seems like a lot to ask.

Why not do it for profit?

Because no one donates 10,000 square feet (which is a whole lot of space) to a profit operation.

Really? If you do it for profit you can pay rent. Start small and work your way up.

I live in walking distance of this location and could donate my time. I would love to see some activity in this neighborhood building.

KD - I am already on your volunteer list

There is a building for sale in the 200 block of North Seventh. Stop in and talk to Patsy at 7th Street Mercantile.
