The G.O.P.'s Pledge

The G.O.P.'s `Pledge' http://www.nytimes.com/20...6sun1.html

Extravagant promises and bluster are the stuff of campaign rhetoric, but the House Republicans' "Pledge to America," which promises a lot but is devoid of tough policy choices, goes far beyond the norm.

The pledge is useless rhetoric with no hard and fast plans. It's meaningless babble, plain and simple. And the photo op that accompanied it, with everyone in their shirtsleeves, was just embarrassing.

Hey. It's a pledge. That means it's from the heart. How can you be so cold.

Otherwise, properly known as the "GOP's Plague for America".

No way Boner got that Oompa Loompa-like orange glow from the sun!

He must be visiting the cancer booths on a regular basis as well.

Boner doesn't sound very guido to me. Maybe he could be, "The Erection."

I find it ironic that the Contract with America was 890-some words and the "Pledge" is 21 pages. In my mind this change in the size of GOP documents illustrates the problem with government. It keeps getting bigger regardless of who is in charge. It is also interesting to note that 95% of the programs the Contract with America promised to eliminate have had their budgets increased.

Basically, this is GOP hypocrcracy in writing.
