Yes, My hubby and I both did P90X. Here are my pro and con lists (the bads first so we can end happy

Cons:
*Very time consuming! Day 4 is 1 hour and 45 minutes. That gets long. The rest of the days are about 1-1.5 hours
*6 days a week. Working out on Saturday was something I didn't want to do, but did while in the program.
*The menu gets old fast! Their recipes are super expensive to make, so we adjusted it to more budget friendly recipes...but there were only a few and whole wheat pasta gets old fast.
*It is extreme, which makes it hard to stay motivated!
*The bands that they say you can use did absolutely nothing for me. Didn't get a strain at all from them, so I went to weights, each month I was gaining muscle (which was good) but I didn't have enough weight at the end.

Pros:
*Results were great in the first 30 days. In my day one and day 30 pictures... big difference. Lost my love handles. Day 60 was even better. I kind of lost motivation in the last 30 days, I was so spent and was very happy with where I was, that I didn't want to get up and exercise. I bet my results would have been better if I had not skipped a few days.
*I didn't see the chiseled abs and incredible stomach they have on the ads...but I was stronger, I felt better, and I wore a small shirt for the first time in my life.
*When I started I could do 5 regular push ups. After the 90 days I could do 30! Never got one unassisted pull up though
*Loved the results I got on my back and biceps. They were defined and I lost the flabby arms.
*Certainly in the best shape in my life with this program. Never been a big girl, but never been the really skinny one either!

I think I did this backwards, I got in the best shape of my life and then decided it was time to have another baby! Results have stuck somewhat...My arm muscles have stuck around and I have appreciated that. Haven't exercised in over 5 months as morning sickness (or a better name for it all day sickness) makes it hard enough to get out of bed and clean the house. Bleh!

It is hard work, and time consuming, but worth it. After I have this baby I will do P90X again. It is tough though.

Good luck!

I haven't done it but this is the problem I see with it. I have no doubt that it can make a big difference in 90 days, but it's not something that most people will stick with for 90 days, let alone long term. You are better off finding a workout that you enjoy and can keep doing on a permanent basis. You won't get the fast results, but in the long run it will have a much better total result which is what really matters.

True Levi, On the P90X website Beachbody.com it even states that 50% of people who start it quit after week 2. 25% more quit after 30 days. Only 25% make it the whole 90 days. It is extreme and takes a chunk of your day. I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I finished.

They do have a great website that you can join for free. Each day you can mark when you start your exercise and become friends with people that are exercising on the same program as you. They even have a $100 incentive that an logged in exerciser wins each day. I never won, but it did help me stay motivated during those first few hard hard hard weeks. Also, doing the program with someone really helped. My husband and I held each other accountable when we were exercising and eating.

Good luck!

Sounds like exercise and a sensible diet really do lead to weight loss and a firmer, more toned body. Who knew? I heard $160 for the program. Is that about right? For $25, I will tell you to eat less calories than you burn. Everyday. Pretty simple formula.
I was diagnosed with Type - 2 diabetes about 3 months ago. Serious wake up call for me. I now walk several miles a day, and eat like an adult. The first few days of walking were a bit taxing, but you would be surprised at how peaceful any town is early in the morning. I'm down about 25 lbs, and my pants fit like I bought them at Tents - R - Us. Gonna go for another 40 or so, and then buy a new wardrobe. But it's not rocket science. I just eat better, and get some exercise everyday. My blood sugar is way lower than it was 3 months ago, and I feel much better. Just get out and do stuff. I park much farther away from the entry, everywhere I go. If the weather is crappy, I get on my stationary bike instead of going for a walk. Perfect time to put on the headphones and listen to some new music. No soda pop. (that alone is worth several lbs in a hurry) Smaller portions for every meal.
None of it is real easy after a lifetime of excess, but it's not killing me either. And I like the new me more everyday. Eat less, and exercise more. Thats all it takes. Save your money for new clothes. You will need them.

Great advice...everyone is always looking for the easy way out...which usually takes alot of $ OUT of pocket! We all know what we need to do...but, look for that one magic pill or something off tv or internet to do our work for us and end up feeling worse then when we began!!!!

Glad to hear you are feeling healthier everyday. We only have this one body the rest of our lives and there just comes a time when we need to take heed and care for ourselves...the healthy smart way!

I did do P90x with my wife and am a month into a second round. I have heard often that it is not a program ones stays with for long term. I would agree with that. This is a jump start program. It gets you in incredible shape and then you can strive to maintain it through good eating and moderate exercise. I like the program because it maxes me out every time and I get quick results which are required to keep me motivated. Plus I need the physical shape the workouts demand for my job. If anyone wants to try a workout out, I will meet them at my church gym and we can do one and you can get a feel for how it is. There is a recommended fitness test to take before you start the program, to make sure you are up to it and not going to die when doing the workouts. )

P90X is not the easy way out and also it is not for people who are just starting an exercise program. There is a "fit test" you are suppose to take before you start the program and if you can't exercise at a decent level it advises you not to use the program. Carli is right in that it takes a lot of time and also that it is best if you have a partner. My husband and I also did this program and we both got results but not like they did on TV, however we didn't follow the eating plan because we were already eating healthy. I should have paid more attention to calories because I don't think I was getting enough calories while I did the program and I think it made me too tired, so yes you do need to eat as much as they say on this program or you won't have the energy you need. I would really try and buy this program used instead of new since a lot of people don't ever finish it.

Carli, I also couldn't do an unassisted pull up when done so that kind of sucks.

I don't know anything about P90X, but if you want my $.02:

When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle.

~Elizabeth West, Hovel in the Hills

Buy one at someplace other than wal-mart and try to ride at least 10 miles a day (preferably over a hill or two).

Another bonus? Spandex.

I agree wholeheartedly with Bridgier on this, even though I do not currently practice what I preach. If you can manage to commute to work on a bike there is no easier way to get your daily exercise and I defy anyone to ride a bike daily for more than a couple months and not fall in love with it.

All correct except for the "irritation of others" part. I personally find it quite irritating to dodge morans on bicycles everyday here in Bozeman. 3 just yesterday. Evidently the rules of the road do not apply to those enlightened enough to ride a bike around town.
Great exercise no doubt, until you get killed. I suspect the benefits of exercise are null and void after being crushed under a truck. Just guessing....
I applaud those who get out and ride a bike. They are obviously making an effort to get or stay in shape. I just don't want to be responsible for crushing them. Pick a safe route (Not the frontage road between Bozeman and Belgrade) and ride safely. And enjoy.

I don't know what the law is in Montana, but here in Idaho, a bicycle on a public roadway is a vehicle, with all of the rights and responsibilities thereof. That is the "rule of the road". What were these cyclists on the frontage road doing that was so irritating? If it wasn't anything beyond "being on the frontage road", than I will agree that someone is being a moran, but I'm not sure it was the cyclists.

The shoulder on the frontage road is less than 12 inches wide. Not sure why anyone would purposely put themselves in that position, riding a bike where there is NO room for error, on their part or the part of the motorist. One small error, by either party, and the bike dude is a statistic. And we all know the motorist will always be held at fault. Traffic moving at 60 + with virtually no shoulder equals disaster if you are on the bike. It's just a matter of time. I have nothing agaisnt those who chose to ride a bike, for exercise or commuting. But, as you said, the rules of the road do apply to bikes. And one of MY rules of the road is to never put yourself in a position where death is just a matter of time. I think riding that frontage road on a bike is verging on suicidal behavior, and I don't want to be anywhere near there when it happens.

With p90x you will lose weight and get toned... however there are faster ( and easier ) ways to lose weight. Cardio. Just keep your body moving and your heart rate up. I know a woman in her 60's that lost 30lbs in 30 days doing cardio and eating right! Grab a 50 cent jump rope from St Vincent, you may be surprised at how much it makes you sweat

And we all know the motorist will always be held at fault.

On the contrary, killing a cyclist with a car is rarely prosecuted, even in cases where the motorist is at fault and when it is, sentences are typically light.

But, as you said, the rules of the road do apply to bikes.

By law the bikes have a right to be there, and actually according to the law, the appropriate maneuver for the cyclist is to "take the lane" when it's not safe to ride on the shoulder and pull over periodically to allow cars to go by. That said, the fact that you have the legal right to do something doesn't make it a good idea and avoiding dangerous roads like you are describing is a good policy. The options are not good in Montana though, especially in the more populated areas. Perhaps the solution is to widen the frontage road and add bike lanes rather than just telling the cyclists to "get off the road". Or maybe since cars have access to the interstate, the frontage roads should be closed to motorized traffic and only used by bicycles. That would be much safer.
