Hmmmm... I loved the bump and run, and they still have a demolition derby. I would say the reason was because it took so much time to build the track, and there is little time to do so (because of the rodeo's that used to be on Friday/Saturday nights). I still enjoy watching the demo derby though!

Then we need to find another track.Seems like all the smaller towns around us still have them.

When the people that were running them stoped driving they stoped and no one wants to put in the effort to get them going again!!

Here's a link for the current bump n run associations website

http://www.bumpnrunracing.com/

Unfortunately, I no longer live in Miles City otherwise I would gladly help with trying to get bump n run back in Miles City. To this day I still thinks its one of the best forms of racing!

Funny....when I saw the title of this thread, I would have sworn that the answer would have been that the Miles City bump and run was taking a snort of meth, then running inside the M&H to shoplift an 18-pack of Busch Light.

Wendy, bump n run is a cross between demo derby and stock car racing on a motocross track. Many racers like it because it's cheap. The cars are similar to ones used for demo derbies, but they last for more than one outing in most cases. Contact between cars is allowed and racers will often try to spin out an opponent by hitting him/her. But speed is kept to a level where even if there is a collision, injuries are very rare.

The races are a lot of fun to watch.

Hmmm. I'm a big demolition derby fan. But bump-n-run sounds kind of namby-pamby to me.

Bump n run started many years ago and has been going for quite some time. There are races all over eastern montana. It might sound Namby pamby but your car can last several races even years. There are roll overs, hits, spins. It can be very competitive especially if you have a favorite driver or know a racer.

They have even split it into 2 divisions now. The limited class and modified class, and new this year they are trying a truck class. The limited class is highly regulated and even has a "buyout" rule for the A-main winner, which keeps cost down on these cars and modified is just that, the cars are modified and go balls to the wall for the win.

Comparing a demo-derby and bump n run is apples and oranges......demo derby is crashing and hitting and the car last 1 derby unless its like colorado that has a "full-weld" class and these cars do last several derbies but have essentially been reinforced. Bump n run is racing at its finest!

If you scroll up and read other posts, I put the link in for the montana bump n run association which shows pictures of racing and there are even videos on youtube of some races....1 video shows a sweet rollover....but bump n run is just for us wussies out there.

I agree with wendy - if it's not hardcore wall-to-wall demolition, I'm just not that interested.

I have always thought it would be fun to drive in a bump and run and I might even do well since I have 10 years experience in California traffic . So far nobody has offered me a car to go smash up though.

you could always build a car in your spare time! I know that the tules for building are posted out there. My husband races so you could always get advise from him or any of the drivers!
