Kinsey Bridge Vandalism Case
On June 6th, 2010 Skyler Casillas, James Scheid, Andrew Battin, and Keiver Rogers took spray paint out to the Kinsey fishing access site and spray painted the improvements including the signs and building. They sprayed offensive and vulgar things. They traveled to 7th Street Bridge and sprayed other more offensive, racial, and vulgar graffiti.
Montana TIPMONT program offered up to a $1000.00 reward for information regarding these acts of vandalism. When the individuals involved saw a reward out for them, they thought it would be humorous to return to the site and spray paint it again.
Wardens with Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks received a confidential tip that led to a successful investigation and prosecution of the four individuals. According to Travis Muscha, Parks Maintenance Supervisor, "The vandalism resulted in the unplanned expenditure of funds, time and effort to repair the damage. The acts were senseless with no regard for the resource and the public".
They received fines that totaled $2,095.00 and were each ordered to pay restitution that totaled $500.00. The individuals will also lose their hunting, fishing, and trapping privileges for eighteen months. The four individuals ranged in age from 18 to 21.
The public is encouraged to call 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668) should you witness or have any information on vandalism, destructive behavior or illegal activities occurring on FWP property. People can also call the FWP regional offices with information on any negative activity they might be aware of.
