Bus out at Albertson's
Posted by Leanne Stewart (+205) 13 years ago
Did anyone see the bus of young adults tonight at Albertson's? Quite a site to see. Just wondering what people thought.

I think a guy named Glen was their ringleader.

We were talking to this one girl from Florida. Very nice girl, telling us how they could teach us how to live for "free". We asked her how they get their fuel. "Its all free"!! They were cooking deep fat fried hamburgers and feeding anyone who wanted to eat. My mom asked her where they got the burger. She said they got it from Albertson's. My mom said so did they donate it? She said no they bought it with their food stamps. Needless to say, my mom came unglued!! The girl walked off and proceeded to "moon" my parents as they drove away. LOL!! I wish I could have seen that!! Can you imagine getting mooned by someone that has not showered in over a month!! LOL!! I guess what I really would like to know is how they get food stamps?

My single encounter with the Rainbow People was at the King Ave. Holiday in Billings where one of them distracted a clerk while the other shoplifted - guess that's one way to live for "free."

Oh, I bet they're having fun with you yokels fine citizens of Miles City.

No offense.

So saying something derogatory then saying no offense is supposed to negate the nastiness of your comment?

Yup!

It's kind of like saying, "With all due respect," then following with an insult.

You should try it, it's fun.

I'm not sure if I can bring myself to believe that these fine folks were welfare cheats - they look pretty white to me...

I've never heard of Rainbow People. Can someone elucidate?

While we were leaving Albertson's we saw one of them walk over to the trees at Frank's body shop and urinate! Obviously they are free spirits and don't care about what and where they do their things.

Bridgier is correct.

The basic definition of eugenics does not allow a significant group of white people to be thieves and cheaters.

One or two....maybe a gang of 3-5.....but not that many.

I would like to think that those kids are heading to SLC for a Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert. They look like such friendly, nice all-American kids.

Kacey, perhaps you would like to contradict our assessment of wholesomeness? I do look to you as the ultimate arbiter of WWJCD?*

I was unfortunate enough to run into 4 of them at walmart. The smell was almost unbearable from 10 feet away.

i've gotta say, i really hate, truly hate the smell of unwashed people. eew. perhaps some kind soul could offer them some soap and use of a car wash for a few minutes? since they will potty outside, what is a shower in public?! also, no one wants the smell of unwashed person mixed with steam in a small room...

Rainbow movement?? Didn't they used to be called...hippies? Except in the original, they did odd jobs to earn money, not sure they could have gotten food stamps back then.

Real hippies, actually work pretty damn hard for what they have. kind of Amish commune style. These guys are just dumbasses.

Leanne- maybe you and your mother should mind your own biz. What right does your mother have to dictate how people spend their food stamps. I think a mooning was in order to an opinionated wretch.

I imagine Leanne's mother felt they were defrauding the government. See, the food really isn't "free." SOMEBODY has to pay for it, and a lot of people are getting fed up with the taxpayers footing the bill. I am all for social support programs, but don't abuse the system. For some that is simply too much to ask.

Nothing like the memory of a good old-fashioned cook-out and mooning. Ahh to bring back the days where no middle fingers were extended on the roadways, but instead a simple drop trou window squat would suffice.

Darn seatbelt laws.

You want it washed? Donate a coupon to the carwash and open the bus windows first!

Trey-it is my biz and every other tax payer!! Like MT Zook said, somebody has to pay for the food stamps and that means you and I, unless of course you are one of the many food stamp receivers that are very capable of working but choose not to!! I am sure the "25" year female that we talked to was very capable of working (which she said that she had worked since she was 15, wow, a whole 10 years) but she chooses to ride around the country having a "good ol time" (if that is what you want to call it)on a bus with 12 other people and 4 dogs letting cooties grow on them and letting people like yourself foot the bill!! As for calling my mom a name she does not deserve, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!

I'm surprised we had to wait this long for generic welfare demonization once "food stamps" was included into the thread.

Maybe they bartered for the food stamps. I know that's not technically legal, but people barter goods and services all the time without reporting it to the IRS. Why assume the worst?
Top

Posted by Wendy Wilson (+6173) 13 years ago
I don't think you can barter any more. Aren't most food stamps now on a debit card of some sort?
Top
Posted by Mary B. (+201) 13 years ago
They are, but that's not to say they didn't give something of value or do some work for someone who had a card who went in and bought the hamburger for them.

I totally agree with Leann Stewart....who is this "trey" person???? Please people, do not associate him with Trey Neumann of MC...altogether a different person!!!! A much more intelligent young man then the one who SHOT off his words to Ms. Stewart!!!! Your mother had every right to express her opinion to this young Rainbow Princess. She was certainly expressing herself...along w/ the rest of the Rainbow free spirits. If they don't want attention, why the heck park your bus outside the parking lot...cook some burgers...urinate by the trees and go up to people and tell them all about how we can all live "FREE" when they are living off the hard working individuals!!! Good job Leann's mom for speaking your mind. (after all it is a FREE world!)

I agree, but you can't judge someone for using the same right you expect for others. Besides that your statements were about a whole lot more than trey's name-calling. This whole thread is about judgment unfortunately. It's all about speculation without any facts. For cripes sakes they are willing to wear singlets thrown in the trash and the top of their bus looks like a garbage dump. It's not like these people are out living high on the hog at taxpayer's expense. You don't know if they gave goods or services in exchange for someone using their SNAP card and even if they didn't there are plenty of Miles Citians abusing SNAP cards as well. I'm willing to bet these people are a lot less of a drain on taxpayers than a whole lot of other citizens around here who pay people under the table to avoid taxes, don't report tips or gambling winnings or other income, hire builders who don't have insurance because they're cheaper and on and on.

Well at least the above are working and the others are not. If they can afford a bus and gas, I feel they can work too. Welfare is for people that are down on their luck and are at least trying to make things work and it comes up short. Or people that are sick and cannot hold a job down in my opinion. Not for people that are lazy and take the easy road of getting a welfare check.
Top
Posted by Mary B. (+201) 13 years ago
You are assuming they are getting a "welfare check". Like I have said more than once they could have given something of value for that benefit. You don't know so don't judge.

If they are happy wearing wrestling singlets from the trash, going without in the way of cleaning supplies and living communally, who are you to say they have to have a job. Some people are just fine with living off the grid and without personal possessions.

. Do you realize that to get cash money from the government you have to work for them, sign up for job service, or show why you can't work. Its not easy. Lay off these bus people. Who the procreate cares? They were here now they are gone?? Did you want to procreate one so bad that you have to be as horrible of a human being as possible so they might be lured back?? I don't get it. If you don't want to pay taxes, stop being rich, and donate more to charity.

Maybe some are tired of bustin their butts so others can live off the welfare system. Like I said some people really need it, and some people grew up on it and don't want change.
