Ex-local jailed in alleged forgeryBy Elaine Forman
Three people are in jail, including a former Miles Citian, for allegedly trying to forge and cash a $178,500 check from Steadman Ace Hardware in June.
Former Miles Citian Alice Maloney (no age available), Kyle Robert Bean, 24, and Justin Joseph Reed, 32, allegedly were involved in the conspiracy, according to First Judicial District Court records in Cheyenne, Wyo.
All three are residents of Greeley, Colo.
In Reed's affidavit of probable cause, it states that he and his girlfriend (Maloney) printed the check while at their residence in Greeley, Colo.
According to Bean's affidavit, Bean and Maloney went to Fed Ex Kinko's in Greeley. While leaving the store, Maloney allegedly told Bean she had just printed a fraudulent check and provided him with the check.
The affidavits go on to say that Maloney, Bean and Reed allegedly agreed to drive to Cheyenne, specifically to cash the check. Bean drove the three and Maloney instructed him to park away from Cheyenne's First Interstate Bank. Bean went into the bank on June 28 while Maloney and Reed waited across the street in a parking lot.
When Bean tried to cash the check, the Cheyenne Police Department was called, the court records stated.
The police arrested Bean and found Maloney and Reed in the parking lot in a silver Chevrolet HHR with temporary Colorado registration, which Maloney said belonged to her.
The Cheyenne Police booking information sheet stated that Bean admitted to passing a check at the bank which he knew to be forged, and Reed admitted to being aware of plans to pass a forged check.
Bean and Reed were charged with felony forgery and conspiracy.
No charges have been filed against Maloney in Wyoming yet. She was in custody in Greeley on June 30 and was later transferred.
She is currently in Lamirer County jail in Ft. Collins, Colo., on other related charges, according to Cheyenne Police Det. Jeff Mims.
Maloney had served time in the Montana State prison on forgery and deceptive practices charges from Gallatin County and was released a few years ago. Afterward, she lived in Miles City briefly.
Reed is in custody at the Laramie County jail in Cheyenne. It is not known where Bean is being held, but is not in the same location. About two years ago Bean was arrested on a theft charge.
The Miles City Police Department has aided in the investigation.
The investigation is continuing.

I read this last night, and it put a smile on my face I am still wearing this morning.

The Karmic wheel is studded with metal spikes.
I guess the only thing left to ask is: how long before Eric--or one of his many aliases-- weighs in on the subject?
