Check out picture #4 here. Why isn't the President or any of his family wearing a life jacket?

As adults, the President and First Lady have the choice of wearing a life jacket or not. I find them choosing "not to" no different than the choice to walk across the street or eating raw fish. It could kill you, but you have to risk it once in a while and live life. What I find more disturbing is the ranger isn't wearing his jacket properly.

I don't know what Maine's laws are but I am sure the kids had to wear one while the boat is under way. I didn't see any pictures of the kids to make the conclusion that they weren't.

I am sure he dumped his beer cans and car batteries at the boat ramp though, unfortunately.

Right behind the ranger is one of the girls... with no life jacket.

I honestly couldn't tell from that picture, so I didn't want to draw conclusions, but I did go find some other photos and it appears that you are right. I don't know if they are required to wear them or not.

Lets use the power of Google:

http://www.mainerec.com/b...PageNum=72

where we see:

While wearing your PFD is not normally required by law, there are four exceptions to this.EFFECTIVE MAY 1.1995:

Children 10 years of age and under must wear a Type l, ll, lll PFD while on board all watercraft.

Obama's kids are 12 and 9...so if that is the oldest in the picture, they are compliant with Maine law. If that is the youngest...quick! Somebody call Rush Blowhard!

I read that as well Gunnar, but then I was thinking, "are Federal waters different?" Also, you can't tell me that all the kids on cruise ships are wearing lifejackets all of the time. There has to be more to the law than those few sentences.

I am not saying it's right, because it probably isn't, but it seems to me there are bigger things to worry about. Thus I am done with this.

Bigger things! Surely not! Nit-picking over life jackets proves that the current president is a socialist Muslim out to turn the country over to a one-world government run by black helicopter pilots who will spray chem trails over our heads.

You just can't help yourself from projecting, can you. I doubt anyone here believes any of that it true.

My concern was simply for the safety of the First Family. Perhaps my sensitivity here is the result of getting my annual MHSA refresher this past week, where they beat into you, to assess the risks and use the appropriate safety equipment.

While this picture provides a train-load of irony on which I could comment, (and in other times would have definitely have commented) I will take the high road and refrain from doing so.

It simply struck me as odd not to wear a life jacket in a boat.

Amorette, LOL, you are one of the main reasons I read here. You are hysterical and I love your succinct way of making a point.

Don't you have a Salahi release vigil you should be attending or something?

Heck, I even hear you can put American citizens on CIA hit lists nowadays.

Thought this was pretty funny

http://optoons.blogspot.c...ility.html

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba--President Obama has pledged to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility by next January. But according to military officials, its closure has become "significantly complicated" by the discovery that "it's crawling with terrorists."

"They're everywhere," said one official. "They've infiltrated all sections of the facility."

A White House spokesman blamed the previous administration for this latest development. "If it weren't for George W. Bush," he said, "this facility would be terrorist-free."
