4 Kittens Dropped Off by Fairgrounds

Four little kittens were dropped off several days ago near the fairgrounds. They were healthy and so precious. You could tell they had been cared for. What I don't understand is....they are only a month old; if you cared for them, why would you dump them instead of finding them a home? Couldn't you have atleast waited until they could eat on their own if you were so determined to dump them? They were so frightened the first day looking for their mama cat. Remember the little gray with white on its feet? A dog killed it. You didn't let it even have a chance. I just don't understand why when we have a no kill policy here, do animals get dumped....especially babies not even weaned. Did you think because there were other cats out there that they would be taken in? What about the cars on the road? What about the dogs, the skunks, the list goes on. SHAME on you. Wish you could see the little gray kitty now, maybe you would have reconsidered.

Thank you both so very much. A friend has them now and is taking care of them. I've never had a cat but think I'm going to take one even though I have two dogs, two birds and a tank full of fish, lol. The dogs won't hurt it, I just have to teach the kitty not to hurt the birds. Maybe I should get two since everything else I seem to have in pairs (everything is fixed except my guppies.....)

When things like this happen, it just makes me sick. I know it happens a lot, but I hope people who do things like this BURN! You must have no conscience. There are always other options!!!

And if you don't want to have to deal with unwanted litters, get your pet spayed or neutered!!! And if you can't afford it, maybe you can't afford to have a pet in the first place!

Thank you so much C.Kee for rescuing these poor babies and giving them a fighting chance that was taken away from them when they were dumped out to thoughtlessly! I'm so sorry for the little gray one who didn't make it. There needs to more caring people like you in this world!

There are always other options

I'll bet Levi and I were both tasked with executing some of those "other options" in the callowness of our respective youths.

How do you know for sure they were dumped? Maybe mama cat was moving her litter from one place to another and she got injured or killed on the way. There are probably more than one or two barn cats and other critters out near the fairgrounds so it's not unreasonable that mama cat felt threatened and moved the family.

That's what happens when idiots drive a few or so miles out of town to toss unwanted dogs and cats out of their vehicle and then split. The closest rancher ends up becoming the humane society. Some got saved. Many, if not most, didn't.

Well said, Webmaster! I think it's much more responsible and humane to euthanize unwanted pets rather than to dump them ~ hoping some bleeding heart finds them..in time...

Someone just mentioned the chance the momma was around. That is a good point! People need to realize how long a feral momma cat takes to hunt or move her kittens. Please don't ever take kittens just because you think they're abandoned! Call the police or monitor from a distance to see if the momma comes around. *I see this case was a witnessed dump, so does not apply*

The spay/neuter mantra just isn't catching on like it should I don't know what it would take? Perhaps it ~ like human unwanted pregnancies ~ is just another plague of our society

Now I've noticed a trend that hopefully doesn't last long. It's the natural rearing of pets..they promote feeding only raw meat and bones, no vaccines, no spay/neuter

The focus needs to be on spaying/neutering in the first place..
