Bring Me Up To Date
Posted by Kyle L. Varnell (+3745) 13 years ago
Good Lord. I'm gone for a bit and we have at least 4 people banned, something is going on with Josh and apparently we are no longer able to edit our posts.

Can somebody give me a "Cliff Notes" version of what's happened?

Kyle, briefly someone posted about some lady that had 5 kids that was dying of cancer and then someone else posted that she was a fraud and the thread stretched over 200 posts...Josh discovered in the meanwhile, that he could edit posts even after someone else had posted and this "bug" caused Larry to get upset and so he has banned editing till he can fix the bug...Hope this update is clear enough and is accurate enough for you to understand...Meanwhile lots of nutty people have tried to really be jerks and Larry has been forced to babysit the site and take away posting priviledges...what a mess this has been...Welcome back by the way...

That's right Kyle. You can never leave again or things will go to hell in a hand basket.

I just wish that we could get Rob Shipley's viewpoint on this whole affair.

Maybe Smiley can do another Venn diagram to explain what's gone on the last couple days.

I found that bug, but it was way worse than editing just my posts. I could edit ANYONES post. Informed larry, and he fixed it. But then I decided to try it on myself, to see if I could remove that crazy persons address and paypal from my post, and it worked. So there is another bug larry learned of, hence the shutdown of Edit.

I forgot an arrow... The one connecting Josh and Webmaster also

I figured mine had nothing to do with the thread, cause I could use it anywhere. So the arrow not there does make since.

We might also need a diagram showing all the tangent threads that the first one spawned. Just to tie them all together.

Smiley,
Oh my, this venn diagram is better than the first one you did! Bringing humor into a "crazy" situation is welcomed! I'm the ex of the crazy woman.

None of us have a computer that powerful, Jody.

Welcome back, Kyle.

Britney, I am by no means the president of the Josh Rath fan club, but please allow me to say this:

Josh is a pretty damned smart kid who contributes to this site. He annoys the heck out of me at times, but I am glad he's here (even if he is gunning for the "Pope of MC.com" crown).

You, on the other hand, are a vile little twit. Do shut up.

To those complaining about "the boot factor":
From what I've seen on this site(s), it is not one's "opinion" that necessarily gets them booted off, it is "how" they say or present it. You are in control of what you write, try thinking about how your going to write it first.

with the airing of a family's dirty laundry and such bashing of character, we all read the post(s) with great enjoyment (sorry those who are hurting as a result), while eating popcorn; such great live entertainment had not been witnessed in some time...

unfortunately, sometimes it takes "airing one's dirty laundry" to put the picture out there for everyone to be able to decide for themselves, what they feel the situation may be.
I will never condone one parent who puts a child in a situation where they have to choose between "loyalty" to one parent or the other. I will never allow my kids to think that it's ok to lie to others for their profit, even at the risk of losing their desire to keep in communication with me. Telling the truth will always be the right thing to do.
Trust me when I say, there was NO other way to handle the situation with this "mom".

Frankly, I think that airing dirty laundry, while wildly entertaining, is not alway the right thing to do regardless of truth of either party's position. When children are involved sometimes we just have to "suck it up" and act like adults. None of the Maases posting on this site have done that.
