Hello. So, I have only recently caught this thread and would like to add my 2 cents worth, with regards to the 'character' of this poor 'mother of 5 with cancer.'

I met her last year when she had a business called GUIDE TO A BRIDE - located in Lewiston, Idaho. She ran a formal and wedding dress store. I was closing one down and had the misfortune of consigning 46 gowns with her. When I met her she was perfectly healthy with no sign of illness in sight. Luckily, I had a contract with her and I made sure to describe every gown on the contract and list prices of every gown, also on the contract. It took my daughter and I 2 hours to fill this paperwork out and attach black and white 'boutique' price tags on each gown. I received about 3 checks from her for gowns that she sold.

Then , the communication ended. I contacted her via her businesses Facebook page and was shocked to hear back from the 'new owners' of the business. They stated that they had purchased the business from Krissie in May of 2015. I contacted Krissie directly and asked her what was going on. She stated that she was diagnosed with BRAIN cancer and had to let the business go. Of course, as a human being, I was heartbroken for her, but confused at the same time. It blew my mind that this 'cancer' had hit so fast. Still, I had no reason to doubt her story. She stated that she had sent letters out to all of her consignee customers, letting us all know that she had sold the business. I had never received any such letter.

I went to see the new owners after getting a letter from them stating that all consignment items had to be picked up at the request of their insurance. The new owners had been inundated with angry customers because Krissie had destroyed gowns that weren't hers, stolen money after the sale of consignment gowns or kept them for herself.

I went to pick up my gowns and was mortified with what she had done to them! There were stains, missing beads, rips and holes in almost all of them . She had , also, removed all of my dress tags and replaced them with big yellow rental tags. She had been renting my gowns out to the public and pocketing the cash. She had also put a buy it now price on the tags, which was more than what I was asking. I figured that out when I cross referenced my contract with her tags. The new owners couldn't find most of my gowns as they weren't on the shop floor anywhere. They found them shoved in boxes or thrown on the floor upstairs. The worst one was a white wedding gown that she had thrown in the washing machine! (she admitted that to the new owners). It had a massive hole in the front of the gown - where it had become wrapped around the middle of the washing machine. 2 gowns were missing completely - 1 wedding gown had been promised to a young lady that is getting married this summer - and it is gone.

This is just my story , there are hundreds more. Since this post started 5 years ago, she has claimed to have non hodgkins, lung cancer, stomach cancer (there is a post on Facebook where she is thanking Argosy cruises for giving her a free cruise - as she had become ill while on her honeymoon cruise with them 3 years ago and found out she had stomach cancer when she got home!), a rare heart cancer and of course brain cancer.

I am really hoping that she did not get to much money from people on this post. She has made scamming a career choice. I am taking her to court next month, and I am hoping to have enough evidence to recoup the small amount I am asking for.

What is sad is that she has her children telling lies for her as well as her own mother. Twice her mother has posted on Facebook that she had just put her daughter in an ambulance for chest pains.I know of someone that called the main hospitals around her and guess what......NO KRISSIE!

I have found someone that investigates cancer scams and they are looking into Krissie and her activities. Hopefully we can all expose her for the scam artist that she is.

Wow, this thread is a blast from the past.

I just wanted to mention that what I stated above about banning accounts -- that was from a long time ago, with a different crowd of people visiting the site, when the rules for moderating were not the same.

Also, none of the above accounts are actually banned anyway, either because it was temporary, or because I reset everything after redeveloping the site. Banned accounts clearly show a "banned" badge underneath the profile image next to posts -- so everyone can clearly see who is banned or not.

Nowadays, it's fairly difficult to actually get banned on here. The feature is mostly reserved for only spammers and those who disrupt the site.

So this.

http://www.theknot.com/we...and-Shawn

This was for her so called 'wedding' She states on this site that she found out after the fact that the preacher never filed her marriage. So, in her head, they had to have a second wedding (instead of just filing the first one at the court house). I have searched and searched and can not find any such record of her marriage being registered.....anywhere! She uses her last married name (Maas) and her maiden name (Reeves) on Twitter and Facebook. She was also selling herself as an officiant and wedding planner until I busted her! On the website, which she has since closed down), she claimed to be an officiant for any type of Religious service that you can think of. Catholic to Buddhist, Hindu to Jewish....and everything in between! I messaged her as a 'bride' looking for an officiant and asked her how she had become licensed in so many different religions. She immediately became defensive and blocked me....then shut her wedding.com page down. Of course she has a habit of doing that when she has been cornered....so I made sure to copy and paste all of the info before she cancelled the page ;-)

?Kristine Maas? to Argosy Cruises

16 January 2014 ·

..
Hi.. My name is Krissie. I just wanted to say thank you to Tim Ratcliffe. I got married last April 20th, 2013 and me and my husband went to seattle from idaho for our honeymoon. I had always wanted to go on a dinner cruise. however, I spent the entire time on the ship throwing up in the bathroom and we quickly drove home the next day.. I was so sad and disappointed that our honeymoon turned out that way.. we didn't even eat.. I had called the argosy and Tim Ratcliffe wrote us a letter and gave us free tickets to come again when we could which was amazing.. well, we quicky found out after we were home that I had stomach cancer. So...while going through chemo radiation and finally surgery ( the day after christmas) my new husband and I also found out we were NOT legally married as the minister who married us did not turn in the paperwork. we were even more saddened after knowing this as well. we had wasted thousands of dollars on a wedding that wasn't real and never got a honeymoon. So.. I officially found out I am cancer free yesterday!!! and we called to book the valentines day cruise . we are hoping very much that the captain of the ship will marry us while on the cruise as it has been a long and very tough road to get to this point

Captains on ships haven't had the power to perform marriage ceremonies for years, unless the captain is a recognized officiant for some other reason. Maybe paid the $20 for the certificate in the back of Rolling Stone or something.

I often wonder why compulsive liars don't make a better effort with their lies. They are usually caught and seem so surprised that someone checked up on them. If I were to tell a lie, I'd be a Sheldon Cooper of lying, checking and verifying and covering my tracks so thoroughly, I'd never be found out.

Anyone ever heard of "Munchausen Syndrome"?
Top

Posted by englishchic2001 (+96) 7 years ago
Once I found out that she had lied about the brain cancer and scammed me out of 46 gowns, I started to do some research. I found document after document (public court documents) for embezzlement, restraining orders, you name it.

I thought of the munchausen syndrome to. But scamming people for money is awful and she's attempted (to my knowledge) to do it twice.

BUT, her mother lies about it to! She had a post on Facebook about putting Krissie in an ambulance and sending her to hospital. First of all, her mother lives in Winchester, Idaho and Krissie lived in Clarkston, WA at the time. That's about a 45 minute drive. But her mom tripped up and said she decided to stay home and not go to the hospital with her daughter - as she had another daughter out of state who was also suffering from cancer.Krissie was alive and well at home the next day. After a friend checked (and I'm aware that not all hospitals will give out information), both hospitals stated they had never even heard of the name.

It's an odd family. Krissie has been at this a long, long time.

Another thing she did was she found out that there was an organization in Lewiston, ID that was giving out formal gowns to girls that couldn't afford them (for prom). Krissie had her daughters go to this place, one by one and ask for free gowns and they returned them to Krissie to sell in her store.

Nutballs!

For anyone that did donate to her cause, check out her breast implants that you helped pay for. She's quite the cougar... her husband is about 25 years younger than her. I guess I'm wondering why anyone with an alleged history of cancer would even considering taning or need a boob job? Maybe it's all part of her "therapy".

Exactly!! She had the big white wedding in 2013 and then 'found out' that the officiant never filed/registered her wedding .....so in her head they had to do a big wedding all over again - instead of just going down to the court house to fix the problem. She did have a boob job for the wedding - odd as she had cancer , and she smokes and drinks and tans.

She has claimed to have:- stomach, non hodgkins, brain cancer, a rare heart cancer, colon, cancer of the uterine, liver, skin, pancreatic and bowel , not to mention pulmonary issues.

I find it odd that she uses her married name for nothing.....she uses her previous married name - even when she registered to vote! Something odd about that....starting to think she never registered her marriage on purpose. The poor sap she's married is non the wiser!

I agree, they don't. But, given the character in question, I think it's done on purpose. When she was first 'married' she did use her married name, but then it changed. She uses her last married name or her maiden name. She has so may aliases that it's ridiculous. There is no record of her being 'legally' married anywhere. I think she is scamming the man child that she 'married'. Within 2 years of being married she filed bankruptcy under his name , when she sold her store she had the check written in his name (she's on ss disability for Lord knows what, so I'm assuming she didn't want the check traced to her by ss), and then proceeded to spend it herself - I know this because she likes to brag.....shocking!She started selling his possessions - anything of value - until he figured it out and got pissed off. She did the same thing to her son, when he was in jail - listed his truck for sale, stating it was her husbands! Embezzled $12,000 from an ex boyfriend - she did prison time for that. Told another ex boyfriend , after he tried to leave her, that she was 4 weeks pregnant with twins and when that didn't win him over, she bought meat, spread it on her bed and told him that she miscarried and sent him pictures! She is not only a thief, but something is not right 'upstairs'!

In Montana, if I understand correctly, if a couple holds themselves out to be married, they are married.

She got her money's worth on those knockers, by the way.

Tucker,

I am assuming your public definition of 'TattleTale' was aimed at me. I respectfully disagree that I am a 'tattle'tale. This woman is a lifetime scam artist. She scams, lies, cheats and steals. I do not consider myself a tattletale in any way. She plays on peoples emotions in order to gain sympathy , not to mention money. I do take her behavior personally, as it has directly affected me. I have witnessed her scamming others also - as far as the dress shop she owned last year. I am taking her to court, next week, for items that I lent her to sell.

I agree with another post that the public needs to be aware. People like this poor 'mother of five' need to be exposed, so the general public can be aware.

Her so called cancer on this post struck me personally also. I had a very close friend , just 1 year older than me,that passed away 15 years ago from non hodgkins . She struggled, physically and mentally. The disease robbed her of everything, including her life. So, when I see someone like this 'mother of 5' faking it to merely line their own pockets, it makes me angry.

I apologize if people on this post find my comments distasteful or wrong. But, unless you have experienced what I have, or others on this post that have had interactions with 'her', then please don't judge.

Cancer is an ugly disease and it destroys people physically as well as mentally. There is nothing that can make you feel more helpless, than watching someone you love struggle with something like this. So, I do take this woman's actions personally. Add to that the fact that this 'mother of 5' uses that same mentality to rob people of their property as well as their hard earned money.

I agree that people like her should be exposed. It's not a 'tattletale' thing or a gossip thing, it's a public awareness thing.

englishchic,

Please accept my apology for slipping into sarcasm. I am just stunned that this thread dates back to a year before I moved back to Denver. I just had trouble believing they were still an issue. I watched the youtube videos and was surprised saw that they were posted as late as May 27th, 2016. I'm gonna go with too many dips in the gene pool.

Someone mentioned in an earlier post that she bought new boobs. After watching the videos, I say no, those are real and she needs to spend some money on a new bra.

Is the scamming ongoing? If so, how long ago was the last attempt?

No worries ;-) . It seems she went quiet for a couple of years and then popped up at this dress store in Idaho. She scammed a lot of people out of money and expensive gowns.I, personally, had a store which I closed down. She had an article in the local paper stating that she opened this store and took consignment gowns. My daughter and I spent 2 hours at her store, filling out a detailed contract and putting my labels on all of the gowns. 'She' signed the contract. After about 2 months I heard nothing from her. I contacted her store Facebook page to check in and was shocked to hear back from the new owners. They ended up having all consignment owners needed to pick up their gowns as there was so much damage and drama left behind from Krissie. When I picked up my gowns I was mortified. All of my tags had been replaced with these big yellow rental tags. She had a rental price on it and a 'buy it now ' price on it - after cross referencing her prices with my prices, she had bumped up all of the prices, in order (I am assuming) to give herself a bigger cut. All of my gowns had stains, holes, seam rips, beads missing etc. They are in such bad shape I can't even give them away .

As for her 'cancer' - she is the 'boy that cried wolf'. At this very second, does she have cancer.....I don't know. But over the last 5 years she has claimed to have non hodgkins, stomach and brain cancer. When she sold the store, that is the reason she gave....brain cancer. Ask her now and she will deny it, but she has to many posts all over the place and she has told so many people that it's ridiculous. Just look at those videos.....they hardly scream cancer!

She also passes herself off as a wedding officiant. She had a page on wedding.com and on that page she stated that she can perform weddings for Catholic to Buddhist and Jewish to Hindu - and every other faith in between. A friend of mine contacted her and asked how she became a minister for so many different faiths (which, of course, she can't, especially with a Catholic wedding or a Jewish wedding etc), Krissie became defensive and shut her wedding.com page down. It's the way she operates. Corner her and she lashes out and moves on to another scam.

It's sad. I've never met anyone like her .

Not defending the crazy-a$$ lady, but as a wedding officiant myself, anyone can perform any religious based ceremony as long as they become ordained as an officiant.

Just touching on the religious ceremonies point. I'm sure , as an officiant, you can perform marriages. But, if it's a Faith based ceremony, of a particular faith (Catholic, Jewish etc), it's my understanding that you can not perform a religious service. Catholic performed by a Priest, Jewish by a Rabbi etc. When I married my husband, who is Catholic, we had a Catholic service in a church and the service was performed by a Priest. Even though it was just a wedding blessing, it still had to be done by a Catholic Priest.

SCAMMER: One who does everything in his/her power to steal from another, usually by means of trickery, deceit, and force. With the accesibility and anonymousity that the internet provides, scammers have become increasingly prevalent in modern times. Usually driven by personal greed or even outright amusement, they are unhindered by sympathy or morals and are the very face of human corruption. it seems this has "krissie" written all over it.

So, I thought long and hard about how I would write this post. Today marked the end of a long chapter. Many of you know that I filed a small claim against Kristine Maas Truedson - with regards to gowns that I had consigned in her store (A GUIDE TO A BRIDE). I was very nervous about having to speak in court, but I was able to hold it together. I am not writing this post to slander or disrespect anyone involved with the whole scenario. The case lasted about an hour and I was able to present photo evidence, my original contract (with Ms. Maas.) and a description of the gowns after I retrieved them from the new owners (DownTown Chic). In a nutshell I was able to present my case, back up most arguments presented and I won my case! It was not the full amount , but that was still a win to me. Not just the dollar amount but also the fact that it is now on the Idaho Repository, and is public information. As much as i want to celebrate the outcome, I also find it sad. I watched, in awe, as Ms. Maas presented her 'facts' and I was able to disprove most of what was said. This was a HUGE buyer beware situation. I like to think that I am pretty savvy when it comes to investigating a business or a person, and I (along with others) was , definitely, caught off guard.I would like to respect the moderators request and ask that any responses be polite and non confrontational. I won't post any gory details, just the basic facts. I took Krissie Maas Truedson to court in the hope that I would be able to recoup some of the money that I had put into my gowns. The case went in my favor and, hopefully, I will be repaid ;-). Thank you SO much to those that sent supportive messages and of course those that supported me all the way around. Tomorrow is a new day! ;-) <3

It's not always about winning a monetary amount for some. Showing someone who has scammed people most of her life, that she can't always get away with it is priceless. It won't be Kristine Maas' last scam, but it might make her think twice before she sets out to screw someone over again. She still operates wedding services in the area under different guises, so if nothing else, this aricle and information posted is here for others to beware of her. Great victory lady, even if you never see a dime. Incidentally, there are options to getting your money, don't let anyone tell you differently.

Washington Post: Who would fake a tragedy on Facebook just to get sympathy and attention?
by Meeri Kim

The Dirrs of Saskatchewan had all the makings of a young power couple. John “J.S.” Dirr worked as an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, while his wife, Dana, was a trauma surgeon at a hospital. The two ran a busy household brimming with adorable, smiling children — 10 in all, including 5-year-old Cliff Elias, nicknamed “Warrior Eli” for his ongoing fight against cancer.

On Mother’s Day in 2012, tragedy struck. Dana died after a head-on collision with an out-of-control speeding car. She held on just long enough to give birth to the couple’s 11th child, Evelyn Danika. J.S.’s heartbreaking Facebook posts describing his wife’s struggle to live and her eventual death went viral, and outpourings of sympathy and sorrow from thousands of strangers, including many parents of children with cancer, came flooding in.

But the many followers of their story soon discovered that the Dirrs didn’t exist.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I, to, take this long thread to heart. I lost a very close friend to Non Hodgkins , about 15 years ago. she was 1 year older than me and she suffered greatly, in the end. She was the most positive individual you could ever meet and I think of her often. So, when I saw this thread, I took it very personally. Here is an individual that , in this instance, lied about having cancer (and a cancer that hits home to me as I am sure it does many others). I found another post where she was thanking a cruise company for giving her and her , new, husband a free cruise - because she had become ill on the first one , got home and found out she had stomach cancer. According to her post, she got home , had the diagnosis , had chemo and surgery and 1 year later was cancer free. The cruise line gave her a free cruise! You can google the post by just typing in her name on google.com . Does she have cancer now? I can't say. But, with the amount of cancers she has claimed to have had, she is just the boy that cried wolf.

That article was really interesting. I have thought about the munchausen thing to. She changes her cancers like she changes her clothes. But, then she has these very 'healthy' looking profile photos. When she showed up in court last week, she was trying to tell the judge that she had a brain formation chiari. Would something like that mess with a patients concept of reality?

Ah I see Well I just SMDH, at this Kristine Maas, her family and this whole damn lying scheme, and I can't imagine and hate to believe that there are really people out there who would do this, I am NOT perfect by any means, But I would NEVER ever lie about a subject so sensitive like cancer or any other illness just to get a little attention and or affection, and I certainly would never wish it on anyone as well, This Kristine Maas or anyone else who would lie about this should thank god that they don't have to live with nor watch someone have to go through this, I hope Kristine or anyone else who lies about this gets caught and gets a hefty penalty, Just saying!!

So the money scammer was at it again this evening. She set up a GOFUNDME page in order to gain $8000 for a family vacation and to thank her hubby for working so hard. There were a couple of flaws in her story. She claimed to be part of a 'middle class family of 4'....well there is a lovely picture showing her , her husband, her step son and her daughter. Problem is, her daughter moved out a while ago. So there is no middle class family of 4 at this moment in time. Another flaw in her story was that her hubby couldn't even afford an 'old used pickup'. Well of course he can't .....he's got car payments for a new car and a new pickup! She claims that 'don't worry, no one is dying'...Really? The miles city post above claims she has non hodgkins, and social media posts (from her) claim she's had stomach cancer, brain cancer, hand cancer, uteran cancer, and cancer of the spleen. A post from a relative claims her cancer has spread to all of her organs. Hmmmmmm....Luckily, enough people posted messages on this GOFUNDME page that it was removed by either Krissie herself or GOFUNDME. Sorry Krissie.....not this time!
