Jalan Crossland Band
Posted by Joe Whalen (+618) 13 years ago
The Jalan Crossland Band from Ten Sleep, WY. has been booked to headline the show on Friday, 8/6 at the Elks Lodge in Miles City. Native son, Shea Stewart, opens at 8 p.m. Tickets are limited. In fact, they don't yet exist. But you can bet your ass they'll be expensive. We'll get back to you on that. Your next door neighbor will likely hit you up for one...soon.

*Proceeds benefit the Confluence Performing Arts Center in Miles City.

We saw Jalan Crossland at Bighorn Music Festival last year. They were high energy dance-your-mind away fun.

Joe, can you keep this updated to when, and where tickets can be purchased? Thanks. Very interested in this event.... haven't seen them before, but since you've posted this, I've checked them out on YouTube, and they seem brilliant.

"What is the Confluence Performing Art Center?"

The Confluence is a group of dedicated people working together in an effort to build and provide a permanent home for live, performing arts in Miles City. It has grown out of the Friday Night Open Mic that began at Miles City Books and News and now has moved to the Elks, Fireside Room on Friday nights. If you haven't attended, you should. Come and enjoy the talented and eclectic mixture of singer/songwriters and musicians that live in south eastern Montana.

The Confluence intends to provide a venue to keep live entertainment alive. Not just music but a home for all performing arts. There is a seven person board of trustees raising funds and forming a not for profit corporation. If you love live performance join in with your support.

Anyone else here remember the Jalan Crossland Band's big hit in the summer of 1976, Afternoon Delight?

I can't find any connection between the two.

Amorette,

This will help you get Afternoon Delight out of your head.

I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I'm all out of love, what am I without you
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

Thanks Joe. I would also be interested in more information about your organization. Do you hold open meetings? If so, when is the next one. Thanks.

Tickets now available at Kafe Utza, 19 S. 9th St. or online at http://confluenceperformingarts.com. $15/Advance, $18/Door. Due to heavy pre-selling, this show will likely sell out ahead of the Aug. 6th date so it's not a real good idea to delay your purchase.

Limited offer: Buy 4 tickets, get a FREE HUBCAP!

Joe, that is seriously funny. It is a little mean but seriously funny. If laughter is the best medicine, I feel better.

PS; some of those hub caps are stainless. You may want to check the scrap value.

PPS; Good luck with selling out. SRO would be good.

Got my tickets today. I'm looking forward to a great show with a great opening act too. The Confluence Performing Arts Center group is making a great leap of faith in bringing this live performance to town. We need to step up with our support and fill the house. It's a win-win situation with proceeds furthering the cause of bringing a performing arts center to Miles City. See you there.

That's because Air Supply did the original.

Afternoon Delight was originally recorded by the Starland Vocal Band.

I have watched a few of the YouTube videos and decided to check iTunes -- I'm sure other music sites have Jalan Crossland music as well. It is well worth the listen. The sound quality is so much better. I mean so much better. Truly, if you are sitting on the fence, check out a music site with better sound -- even if only short snippets -- you will get a much better sense of the music.

Tucker said: "PPS; Good luck with selling out. SRO would be good."

Well, I don't know if the venue sold out, but it was definitely SRO! And anyone who missed the gig was SOL. Shea Stewart (aka: the Whitest Little Black Boy On Earth) got the house rockin' like only a homeboy could - and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.

Larry, Steve, Kay, Glenna, Donny, Tucker, Joe, Janelle, Cara, Sam and all you other Confluence stalwarts - GREAT JOB!!! Congratulations on a successful start of what I know will become a long string of cool FANDANGOs! I'll be sure to time any future visits to good ol' Miles City with your schedule of musical events.

P.S. Remember Buckin'allya!!!

I went to see them Friday night at the Elks and they were amazing! Ever song was a story, and most made me laugh. We had a great time and I look forward to seeing them again and any other band they have.

Thanks for a great night!
