Davy Crockett passed away today...RIP Fess Parker...For those of you old enough to remember his series, he made an entire career out of the backwoodsman and his life...If memory serves me correctly, he even owned a hotel that had the same theme later in life...He was 85...

He had a winery, near Santa Barbara (northwest of LA) and owned a resort. He died on his wife's 84th birthday, he was 85. The Davey Crockett show might have been the first TV mini-series. Daniel Boone ran from 1964-1970. Disney wouldn't let him stray from his contract so he was stuck in the same character type. He tried to be a pilot in the Marines at the end of WWII, but was too tall.
