Catcher in the Rye should be required reading in high school.

Never read it. Any good? About the only thing I know about it was that it was Mark David Chapman's explanation for assassinating John Lennon.

I see that Zinn has passed also. His "peoples History" should be
required as well. When I finished it the line from that old song
about all the crap I learned in high school it's a wonder I can
think at all came right up

Goodness, of course it should. It was where I went to school. Holden Caufield was my hero....

I agree about Catcher being required reading. Did you realize it is on the banned list for many schools...

In my English class in high school, we were required to read Catcher in the Rye. Loved the book and the discussions we had in class. He will be missed.
