I was just listening to my scanner and there has been a shooting on Palmer and 6th street. Victim shot and the chest, the gunman is still at large.

It just boogles me that people need to resort to this degree of violence.

They have the shooter in custody and the victim must have died since they keep referring to it as a homicide. Anyone know who was involved? So sad for the families!

I was at work and we recieved a call from on of our drivers to stay inside because someone had been shot. When the driver arrived back, he said it was a 60 year old woman. I'm not sure how accurate that is. My friend and I drove by it about 12 minutes ago and there were 2 police cars on the scene, and then there was a white unmarked vehicle. There was a man outside taking pictures, and a woman in a wrap talking to someone. The building was wrapped in Police Line Tape. It looked REALLY serious.

I don't think this forum is the "news". Why in the world you, as an emergency responder would spread rumor or use this site to gather what amount to little more than idle gossip is beyond me.

curious if it is firefighters job to do that? i do not think so ~ guys. Have respect. losing someone to a senseless tragedy is beyond painful, creating rumors with "facts" heard on a scanner...come on. Sad news.

Am I wrong in assuming that there are or should be privacy laws in place to protect the victim, victim's family, and the possible perp?

In my line of work, I'd NEVER be allowed to just post this type of information to a public forum.

It would be considered protected information until a public information officer was notified to contact the media.

Plus... common courtesy to those affected. Come on people.

I would say that Wild land, isn't actually a fire fighter. Maybe he or she worked for BLM at one time but probably not working for MCFD.

Josh, I see in two posts you decided it would be a good idea to crank the rumor mill about stablers shop. So don't complain when people comment on more then one, you're not the only one who gets to!

Anyone can own and listen to a scanner. What is said on a scanner is NOT confidential---it is public. Whether he is a firefighter or not, makes absolutely no difference.

FYI - Wildland Firefighter is NOT a part of Miles City Fire Department nor Rural. He shouldn't be referring to himself as such as he has a record and quite honestly I have been appalled at some of his postings. Please don't let what he posts reflect on any of the actual professional firefighters in this city or county.

You're right. . . he SHOULD NOT be using this site to gather information nor spread it. If he was truly in the local Firefighting System here . . . he would have known all the information he is trying to glean here.

To wildland Firefighter . . . GET A LIFE!
