When anyone brings-up Hanukkah I can't help but do this...

"This is a song, that uh, there's a lot of xmas songs out there, but not
Too many about hanukkah, so I wrote a song for all those nice little jewish
Kids who don't get to hear any hanukkah songs--here we go...

Put on your yalmulka, here comes hanukkah
Its so much fun-akkah to celebrate hanukkah,

Hanukkah is the festival of lights,
Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights.

When you feel like the only kid in town without a x-mas tree, heres a list of
People who are jewish, just like you and me:

David lee roth lights the menorrah,
So do james caan, kirk douglas, and the late dinah shore-ah

Guess who eats together at the karnickey deli,
Bowzer from sha-na-na, and arthur fonzerrelli.

Paul newmans half jewish; goldie hawns half too,
Put them together--what a fine lookin' jew!

You don't need deck the halls or jingle bell rock
Cause you can spin the dreidl with captain kirk and mr. spock--both jewish!

Put on your yalmulka, it's time for hanukkah,
The owner of the seattle super sonic-ahs celebrates hanukkah.

O.j. simpson-- not a jew!
But guess who is...hall of famer rod carew--(he converted!)

We got ann landers and her sister dear abby,
Harrison fords a quarter jewish--not too shabby!

Some people think that ebeneezer scrooge is,
Well, he's not, but guess who is:all three stooges.

So many jews are in show biz--
Tom cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is.

Tell your friend veronica, it's time you celebrate hanukkah
I hope I get a harmonica, on this lovely, lovely hanukkah.

So drink your gin-and-tonic-ah, and smoke your mara-juanic-ah,
If you really, really wanna-kah, have a happy, happy, happy, happy
Hanukkah. happy hanukka!"

And NO, I am not prejudiced - I've heard Jews singing this on their own.

The album They're All Gonna Laugh At You is hilarious, Wendy. And Billy Madison remains a modern-day comedy classic.

Shu:

Don't mean to go all "Wendy" on you, but I think it's the Carnegie Deli.

I feel slightly uncomfortable being used as an adjective.

Are there any Jews in Miles City?

Weren't the Sonneborns Jewish? I'm not sure if I spelled their name correctly.

Wendy,

Syd Sonneborn is Jewish, yes, but his wife Sandy (my Godmother) is Catholic...go figure! They are good friends of my family to this day.

Anyway, they don't live in Miles City anymore. They moved to Cali several years ago to retire.

Other than them, I'm not aware of any Jews in Milestown, but I could be wrong about that and wouldn't mind at all if I was.

...and Adam Sandler is HILARIOUS Wendy! Not just in his SNL days, but Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Waterboy may be my favorite...maybe it's a guy thing, though.

There was a family that had a building(maybe where Riggs is now) who were Jewish. I can't remember the spelling of her first name but it was pronounced something like "sauce". The last name was something like Levy or Epstein. They lived in a nice house about a block north of Wibaux Park. It was a white house with a curved brick staircase leading to the front door.

Sadell "Sauce" Levy was the daughter of the Epsteins who first opened a clothing store in Miles City in 1909. Before them were the Borchards (first chair of the county commission) the Orschels (one brother was president of the Miles City Club) and another family whose name escapes me. Stores on Main street closed for Yom Kippur in 1881 since so many were owned by Jews.

Today, I think we may be down to a couple of non-observants who are married to non-Jews and eat pork. Ah, well. Times change even in Miles City.
