Does anyone know the real truth of an Arbys coming to Miles City? I heard it was going next to the, yet another casino that is going between Wendys and Wal-Mart. Is this true!?

I know you don't want to hear this but..

Beef and Cheddar 650 calories, 300 calories from fat (near half of all calories), 2200 mg of sodium, 2 grams of fiber, 11 grams of saturated fat.

I know, I know...they taste good...but they aren't really good for the body.

However, I hear curly fries actually make you healthier.

Do you have a huge truck stop being planned near the Interstate? Here in Texas, that is where the Arby's, the Dominoes, the Subways, etc., etc. are showing up. Currently at the huge truck stop here in Waller TX, there is an Arby's. At the in-town Exxon, there are a Popeyes and a Dominoes. Scope out any new gas stations -- they don't seem to be making these restaurants free-standing anymore.

My haute cuisine remark was a joke, Kyle, lol....Don't worry...I do know the difference...

Walmart has never filled their space for a place to eat (right as you enter the door to the food side)..

I for one would LOVE to see Arbys come in. Would definitely give Mcdonalds and Wendys some much needed competition! Plus Wendys is SO slow if you go inside. We don't eat out often, but when we do (basically if ever the budget allows for it), it's usually just fast food...and since we have a big decision between Wendys and McDonald's.........yeah.
Top
Posted by Josh Rath (+2324) 13 years ago
Maryann McDaniel,

Right near the interstate is our Exxon "Town Pump" TruckStop, alongside the somewhat truckstop Cenex. Our "Haynes Avenue" is basically the truckers lunch line... food businesses (with casinos mixxed in). All within walking distance of the stop. Wendy's is the farthest from the interstate, and it seems they want to place this new business inbetween wendy's and the interstate.

There was a possible plan for an Arby's back before the financial crash. That fell through and I haven't heard anything since.

I love potato cakes and Jamoca shakes!

Of course, if one opened, they'd have the same problem every other place in Miles City has, lack of dependable help. There are just more jobs than people willing and able to work around here.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I doubt an Arby's is in the wings for a town that no longer that has a vacant former Holiday station on Main.

Seriously, if you worked in Arby's corporate office, would you be chomping at the bit to put a new store in a relatively-stagnant (business-wise) town of less than 9,000 people?

More power to Arby's if they're willing to take the risk, but I can't see it happening.

It hasn't been that long! I've lived in MC for 9 years in February and it was still open when I moved here.....maybe it's only been closed 8 years???? Either way, it'd been quite some time anyway!

Back to Arbys, though, guess if you want something at Arbys THAT bad, will have to go to Dickinson or Billings to get it! LOL

Here in Helena, we have an Arby's. Its been here at least 8 years, maybe longer. I think I have been there twice.

I used to like the plain roast beef sandwiches with horseradish sauce, but my tastebuds have seemed to expanded in recent years. Plus, its just not that hard to make a sandwich at home.

When we came to Miles City last month antelope hunting, I had the good fortune to stop at the Crystal Pistol and pickup a case of pacos, which we baked in the oven that night for dinner. Now that is good fast food!

Here in Elko, the Mayor owns Arby's, a Burger King, a Tastee-Freez and part of a Basque dinner house. That's why Elko will never see Applebee's, Chili's or an Olive Garden, etc, even though the market demographics are probably favorable for one of the larger sit-down chains.

Word on the street was that Jaker's was trying to permit a restaurant here, but local business interests (Mayor) were stepping all over the permit process. When a new business started construction on Mtn City Highway last year, the folks were all excited for something new until it turned out to be....a second Burger King!

Now there is a rumor floating around that Newmont Mining is "involved" with building a Chili's on the site of their new office complex. That would be interesting to see the "evil corporate giant" break the strangle-hold the "town fathers" have had on certain business interests for the past 100 years.

They are building something restaurant-like on the Newmont site and I guess we will see what it turns out to be....

Probably another Tastee-Freez.

Would love to see either or both an Arby's or Burger King go into Miles City. For fast food, Wendy's and McD's are o.k. but they could definatly stand some competition. Like someone said though, if you don't have the reliable help to run them, it's not going to work in the first place. The economy being what it is today, it's hard for me to believe that there isn't quality help to be had.

You can always contact the arby's corporate headquarters at

Arby's Inc.* 100 Corporate Drive Ft Lauderdale, FL 33334 800-487-2729

but I dont know if they deal with the local hiring of fry cooks?? I'm proud of you though to be proactive in getn your toe in the door! I look forward to seeing that gleam in your eye when you hand me my curly fries

It'll make me happy to know that you are exactly where you want to be! Way to go sport

Amorette is on the planning board, all plans for new construction and businesses have to go through the planning board. So her answer that there is nothing before the board is straight answer. Nothing before the board means nothing is officially happening. Until it comes before the board it it rumors, wishful thinking or preliminary thinking.

Anyhoo ... this just in from Friday's Star (http://www.milescitystar..../index.php):

Arby's franchise coming
By Elaine Forman

The fast-food franchise that specializes in roast beef sandwiches will be putting up a building next to Wendy's on South Haynes Avenue.
A sign was put up on the land Thursday afternoon announcing the plans. It reads "Future Home of Arby's."

Arby's Rick Bently-Miller of Scottsbluff, Neb., is head of the deal, but he was unavailable for comment Friday morning.

The land was purchased from Roger Lothspeich of Miles City, who also owns Riverside Marine & Cycle.

Currently the closest Arby's locations are in Billings, Gillette, Wyo.; Spearfish, S.D.; and Dickinson, N.D. Miles City has not had an Arby's before.

In addition to roast beef, Arby's also serves chicken, salads, toasted subs and more.

According to its Web site, Arby's serves "delicious, wholesome food made with the finest quality ingredients in every sandwich, salad and side item we make."

Miles City Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director John Laney said that anytime the Miles City area's economics are studied by potential businesses, and they see what we have to offer and decide to invest in the area, "it's promising" and "a sign of things to come."

The LJS and Arby's here have good food. I haven't noticed a change. Maybe regional (or unit) quality is suffering in some places?

Popeyes = teh yumz. We only have one here and it got put up on the side of town we had just moved out of when we bought our house. So, it's not convenient to go there.

I wish In-N-Out Burger would set up shop here. Glad we have a Hardees or two around, as well. Gotta' get that Hot Ham 'n Cheese fix sometimes.

In'n'Out was the first place I went when I got to California for a friend's wedding this summer. I got off the plane and commanded my GPS to find one for me. Actually when I first moved to California I didn't really see the appeal but then I found out about "animal style" and I have been hooked ever since. My healthy eating attempts suffered multiple setbacks due to midnight runs for a double-double.

I'm also kind of embarrassed to say it but I'm looking forward to having an Arby's roast beef sandwich. I love the barbecue sauce they have there. It's pretty similar to what they used to have at Hardee's which I also loved. I can't get on board with the beef and cheddar though (should be called beef and cheeze whiz). That has to be pretty far up there on the list of foods that look nothing like the picture when you actually get them. I know several people that love them but they kind of gross me out.
