Building on Haynes
Posted by TK (+1626) 13 years ago
We've been wondering for a while now. What is being built off Haynes next to the RV campground?????
We've kept our ears open, but nobody we talk to seems to know!!!! Looks fairly large and looks like a parking lot being made in front of it. Anyone know?

An extension to Notbohm's. I think they are moving their used cars there but I'm not sure, just that they are responsible.

I know Notbohm's is going to build another lube-center, and that was supposed to be this year, but now it's put off until next year. I don't know, but if they're putting their cars there, then why the cement post things that look like beginnings of "street lamps" as in a parking lot?

Rafters are up and they could pave the parking anytime.

I read somewhere the building between Wendy's and Walmart is to be a casino and small mini-mall. I would assume tenants are already planned. Maybe Roger could interject some knowledge as it is/was his lot, Roger?

You are seeing Phase 1 of 4 going up. A Casino and retail space is Phase 1. When all is done there will be 26,000 sq. ft of retail space very well done, and it will look great!! What a nice addition on S Haynes. Thats all I will say about this project. Roger

Sounds like a great opportunity for up and coming business retailers, but why am I not suprised another casino is part of it.

Thanks for your reply Roger. It's good to see continued growth in town. How about talking to the State about putting in curbs and gutters on thier project like you did on the street you're putting in?

Great, just what we need is another damn casino in this town.
Thanks for the insight on the Notbohms project--makes sense, since the current Auto Advantage lot is for lease AND the new spot puts them closer to Notbohms now.

Just wondering, do "damn casino's" have to pay flood insurance?

THAT'S IT. Build a new dike with poker machines! Unplug when the water is high, mind you.

I figured the burning of practically an entire city block was enough of a sign that our town has too many casinos. I guess I was wrong...

Na, I think in all respect, it just "opened" people's eyes that the town just needs more! Now all that's missing are the Vegas lights and then we can pretty much call ourselves a mini-Vegas!
Oh yeah....and put a few machines in each motel lobby.

How man casinos do we have now? Anybody got a list? Interesting to know just how many it takes to drain what little wealth the MC working man pulls in.

I know it's easy money for the owners, and people are willing to throw it away, but I would have trouble sleeping at night, even on a matress stuffed with money.

Blue Moon
The one that's going into the KFC/A&W building--or was it Brewsters?
Lucky Lils
Gold Dust
Golden Spur
The one in the old Pizza Hut building
The one by Curves
Any of the bars

Did I miss any? I can't even keep track of the names anymore.

Doesn't the Rib & Chop House have a 'casino area'....as does Gallagher's, the 600 Lounge, and the Airport Inn????

The limit on poker machines is the same limit as on liquor licenses. Have to have one--or at least a beer and wine--to get one. The 'bistro' license the state instituted a few years back specifically doesn't allow poker machines. So, while not every bar and/or restaurant with a beverage license has one, there can only be as many as such licenses exist.
