This is what I heard. The old owners are coming back, so these people are going to Livingston. The old owner is making it half restaurant, half casino. ( we need another casino !)

Susan also mentioned Livingston to me. I also heard something about the casino, but there was enough background noise, I wasn't sure I heard correctly.

If I recall in my rumor mill, there is another family coming from somewhere and starting another chinese food restaurant somewhere on the strip. Unsure when, or where, but thats what i have.

I hope they keep a Chinese restaurant in there even if it has to be subsidized by the idiot boxes. Right now it's one of two restaurants in MC (with honorable mention to Discovery Pond's lunch counter) that serve any kind of ethnic food. I would love it if a Chinese place as good as Mexico Lindo went in, but even mediocre Chinese (and I'm being kind here) is better than no Chinese.

What's going to happen to that outstanding paper mache mountain in the center of the restaurant?

Do you mean the koi pond Gunner? I haven't been here in Miles City too long that is why I am asking

If you got the Chinese version of Mexico Lindo, I'd consider moving back to MC.

Don't worry everyone, I'm only joking...

There aren't any decent Chinese restaurants around here anymore, they've all turned into buffets with substandard fare on their menus.

Here's the scoop. Susan and David are going to Livingston to open a Chinese Restaurant. There last day will be October 14th. The owner of the "New Hunan" is wanting to open a casino in the same parking lot which would be serving food also and would draw business away from the Chinese place. So the old owner is just going to put the Casino and Restaurant in the building that the now "New Hunan" is in. It will still be Chinese Cuisine from what I understand but it won't be the same as Susan and David's cooking. I know I will miss seeing them when I go home to visit family because I always made the effort to go in and see them everytime I was home. Working there for 3+ years I know how popular the food is. And I know alot of people will be dissapointed when the old owners take over.

Hmmmm....is that paper mache mountain still there? That was the goofiest looking thing I ever saw. It was there when they first built the New Hunan....I haven't been in there for years, so it might have been yanked.

The food was best when they were located in the old disco.

Hasn't been in there since the old building over by the plaza on Valley Drive. I lied it was there the first year they were at the new location. When they switched owners it was taken down and changed into the Koi pond

...what's up with MC and its casino fixation? Vegas doesn't have as many casinos per person. Of course, a MC "casino" stretches the definition of the word a bit.

If you have a liquor license, poker machines are an easy way to make money. I do wonder if we will hit a saturation point and someone will start losing money.

Has anyone tried the Hong Kong in Forsyth? From the outside it isn't impressive but they have great food, especially the all you can eat buffet on week days lunch and supper. Also very friendly staff and great service. It's on Main street.

No. According to Heath all the welfare cheats have plenty of money to spend at a new casino.

If you like Chinese food drive to Forsyth and check out Hong Kong Restaurant, it's ethnic and WAY better priced and tasting than New Hunan. The owner, Judy is way nicer too.

Are the old owners local or do they live out of town? Do they have other restaurants in other towns?

Gunnar - Wasn't that "The Canton Restaurant" in the disco. I think I remember Dave Rivenes doing a commercial for them. I remember that as being a pretty good place.

I agree with Desiree and snookie, you have to try out the Hong Kong in Forsyth. They bought the building next door and have expanded their seating. Hit the lunch buffet when it starts around 11 am or try something off the menu. Good pricing and excellent food.

So, it is continuing to operate as before? Great! My nieces love to order egg rolls. Trying to find something for kids to eat, as most of you know, can be a struggle and they both like New Hunan food and it actually contains some vegetables!

I was just sitting and visiting with some random people the other night in Havre and i mentioned that my hometown was miles city. They said that they were there awhile back and ate at some mexican restaurant there and said it was the best mexican they have ever eaten anywhere period. I think they were talking about the one in the olive.

LOVE the Hong Kong in Forsyth....drove down there a couple of weeks ago just to eat their food....It is so very delicious...Haven't tried the buffet but, their menu items are awesome and you get lots of food for a descent price...I definately recommend this to anyone who would like to have some awesome chinese food...As far as I am concerned New Hunan is way over priced and their food just sucks anyways, plus, their egg rolls are a joke...They are like tiny and hardly have anything in them, The ones at the Hong Kong rock!! Definately a must try....

Once upon a time while in Tijuana in my youth i spied a little cantina that advertised "Dog Meat Burritos". I just had to see what this was all about so i ordered a cervesa and a special advertised in the window. I thought it must be a joke so to impress my fellow sailors i dug right in...best damned burrito i've ever tasted...i wonder sometimes if it really was dog meat as the texture and taste was like nothing i've ever tasted since. I prefer to think that it was armadillo or something exotic but i just don't know...anyone with a similar experience?

Sadly, a 90 miles round trip to Forsyth isn't in the cards most nights for dinner. My husband makes better Chinese food, too, but when you are in a hurry and feeding kids, the New Hunan is at least an option in Miles City. We have so few decent places to eat I can live with decent.

dog meat is good stuff Richard...I ate it in a stew on the Ft. Peck Res. Lewis and Clark knew it as well. The key is puppy...young puppies are more tender than old dogs.
