Miles City makes the news again
Posted by Kacey (+3153) 13 years ago
Just finished reading the online Gazette about the arrest of two people in Miles City for alleged drug use, etc. How sad that someone little kids are supposed to look up to was involved in this.

This is sad news. Let's all wait for the jury to convict/acquit based on the evidence presented in the trial, rather than unfairly sentence these people in the court of MC.com opinion based on rumor, hearsay, etc.

here is an attempt to explain "distribute by accountability". Back in the 60s drug dealers would claim that the drugs they were caught with were for personal use to avoid harsher dealer charges. The only way to press dealer charges was to catch them in the middle of making a deal. The federal government passed laws that put quantities on personal use. Any amount over this makes you a dealer or guilty of distributing by accountability.

Richard,
I said allegedly. And guilty, or not, the man is someone little kids are supposed to look up to. The fact of being arrested and having to go through a trial changes everyone's perception of the accused.

Who was trying to keep this buried from the Gazette anyway?

Richard, if the jury acquits, that does not make a person "innocent," it makes them "not proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt." Huge difference.

And where pray tell did I say that anyone is innocent... or guilty for that matter?

when first hearing about these arrests on milescity.com i clicked the link for milescitystar.com and not a peep there. thanks folks for keeping me in the loop!

i agree with kacey, this is a sad situation for youngsters that looked up to these men as role models. innocent or not, one typically doesn't get arrested for sh*ts and giggles.

I direct you to your first post on this thread Richard, in which you state: "Let's all wait for the jury to convict/acquit based on the evidence presented in the trial, rather than unfairly sentence these people in the court of MC.com opinion based on rumor, hearsay, etc."

My point is, even if the jury hasn't yet convicted, or even if they have acquitted, does not mean the public is wrong to "sentence these people in the court of opinion." Remember one Orenthal James Simpson?

How can you "sentence" someone without an understanding of the evidence? I think it is very wrong for the court of public opinion to pass judgement until the evidence is presented in a court of law. MC.com is not the proper venue to try the case.

Pack your ice-skates, because the ponds of hell have just frozen over.

MC.com is a terrible place to hold a trial...

Hmmmm....I thought the whole Mission Statement behind milescity.com was to post wild rumors and pass judgement on others?

Glad you are an officer of the court and cleared that up.

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW!!!

That is what the search warrant found. Think they planted the drugs before the did the search?

The real funny thing is, all the bickering back and forth, if they're guilty, if they're innocent, is being played up and people worked up like these two are the only two in Mile City to have ever been arrested for drugs. I understand because one of them is THE fire department, or so stated in other threads, but they are not the first and will most certainly will not be the last in Miles City. Let them burn, hang, be crucified, tarred and feathered, then lets drag them behind a horse and what ever else you judgemental asses can come up with to pass your own judgement outside the judicial system. Glad you elected them officials for that position.
