After dozens of public meetings, hundreds of submitted comments and input from the a diverse group of water users and stakeholders, the draft 2015 Montana State Water Plan is available for review.
The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is seeking public comment on the document. The plan provides guidance for the conservation and management of water resources in Montana for the next 20 years.
For the Yellowstone River Basin, public meetings to collect comment on the draft plan will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the following locations:
• Sept. 30, Miles City, at Miles City Community College
• Oct. 1, Big Timber, at the Carnegie Public Library
• Oct. 2, Billings, at the MSU-Billings Student Union, Beartooth Room
For those unable to attend, DNRC will accept written public comment on the plan between Sept. 24 and Oct. 26. To submit written comments, visit the DNRC website at http://www.dnrc.mt.gov/. An online comment form and a copy of the draft plan can also be found on the same web page.
