ALLEN R. ALDERSON
From 'Fanning the Embers', published 1971, Range Rider Reps, Miles City, Montana
I was born Aug. 22, 1898, at Birney, Mont. to Lewis Allen and Emily Roberts Alderson. They had a homestead at Birney, (Hangingwoman Creek). During my childhood, I helped with all the regular ranch chores and went to school. Played stick horses, cowboys and Indians and went swimming. I attended grade school at Birney and high school in Billings. I am now managing a small ranch. I married Dorothy May Bentley, June 26, 1926, at Hardin, Mont. We had three children, Dorothy May, who married Daniel Tarter, and lives at Ashland, Mont., Alice Roberts who lives at Big Horn, Wyo., and Emily, who married Bill Brown Jr. and lives at Sand Springs, Mont. There have been many interesting phases of my life. The first one was no doubt, being born 65 miles from a railroad or a doctor, on my father's homestead ranch, near the present location of Birney.
