There will be a public reading of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail" on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Miles City Books & News, 907A Main St., Miles City.
If you've not read this powerful essay on Non-Violence and Civil Rights, then this is your opportunity to learn more about the man that we honor each January for helping to change the course of history. "Letter from Birmingham Jail" has stood the test of time and is as relevant now as it was when written in 1963.

Joe,
Still look forward to Thursday night, but must be home before 9 when the Peter Jennings documentary that I am NOT on airs.

Johnnie,
I sent you a note offline regarding both the SF trip and the reading but I'm not sure that it was delivered.
Essentially, I'd like you to know that I'm excited about your trip and have something for you before you depart.
Also, thank you for your support of the reading on Thursday night. I'm looking forward to sharing Dr. King's letter with those who've not read it before. Copies of the text will be distributed to those who attend and back issues of Life magazine from 1963 through 1968 will be on display to help frame the spirit of the times. In addition, I'll present a brief biography of Dr. King prior to and following the writing of "Letter from Birmingham Jail".
This should a rich experience, even if it's just you and me in attendance. |
