So, if we have to use our real names would Deer Slayer not be Wild Grazing Ungulate Murderer or Sod Buster - Virgin Soil Plower?

When I first joined, I considered "Raging Stallion" and "Thor" but those names didn't seem, well, big enough for me, so I just settled for Big Dave.

That's why I never had to make up a fake name. Who on earth is really named "Amorette?" big grin (I left the big grin off the original post by mistake and it made me sound mad without it. I was just amused by someone making up the name "The Truth." Who is going to be "The Dare?")

It means--Amorette that is-- little love. stick tongue out. A nun who was around when I was born lo' those many years ago, was horrified that my father would name me that because in Belgium (I think that is where she was from) an "amorette" is a mistress.

In Italian art, amoretti are like putti, cherub or Cupid like figures. Can you "misnomer?"

Heeheeheeheeheeheee.

Because being out in Miles City is about as safe as being out on Brokeback Mountain.

If I were gay, I wouldn't broadcast it to the planet. Who I sleep or cavort with is my business and only mine.

I know out on the range, and know that 'it' (as I won't define gender) has been subject to much malicious gossip in the past, and doesn't want any more negative attention. Especially not from people who are going to point fingers.
 Subject: RE: Fake name
Author: Out on the Range  Posted: Sat May 10 8:51:40 PM MDT 2008 From: - MT
Thank you "LG"!!!

Out on the Range is a group. (Therefore calling us "it" was appropriate, LG.) The reason we meet as a group is so that we can hang out, be ourselves, and meet other people in the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and trans-gender/transitional) community. At our meetings, we can feel comfortable enough to let our guards down without having to worry about being judged or discriminated against.

Yes, the hope would be that someday we could all be "OUT on the range" without anyone feeling there is a need for such a group. However, not everyone who attends our meetings is "out"- we like LG's Brokeback Mountain reference! So until the time comes when we all do feel safe, we meet to remind ourselves that we are not alone. and we post on here for a couple of reasons.

>>It gets the word out to people who may want to attend our meetings so they can check out our website http://glbtmilescity.blogspot.com

>>It lets the community know we are here without "OUTing" our attendees and allows the topic of GLBTs in Montana to be discussed in an open, nonthreatening setting. Without talking openly, we cannot hope to overcome things like ignorance, fear, and intolerance.

So keep talking about us, Chuck, even if it is negative. Because we have nothing bad to say about anyone, (except perhaps that, we dislike the three character traits listed above) and your narrow views serve as proof to us that we are needed in Miles City!

How sad. It is unfortunate that a GLBT float in the BHS parade is considered a bad idea. I'm sure Out on the Range is more than welcome to participate in the parade...but I think we can all imagine how it would turn out.
 Subject: RE: Fake name
Author: Chuck Schott  Posted: Sun May 11 12:32:48 PM MDT 2008 From: - WY
I wasn't going to do this, but what the hell I like a fight. Out on the range states "...your narrow views serve as proof..." when in reality he/she/they have NO IDEA what my views are. I was making an observation about the irony of posting anonymously while using "out on the range" as an identity. In most every post "out on the range" is posting as an individual. Words like I and me are used in many posts and appear to be one persons opinions.

If "out on the range" and MC.com are looking for a token homophobe to bitch at I guess I can be it. This however will come as a surprise to all the gay and lesbian friends I have made in Billings over the last twenty years.

May I suggest that "out on the range" be used for posting of an organizational nature and whoever is posting personally under that identity get he/she another secret name for personal postings.

Also one note to all lets stop taking ourselves so seriously, I do this for the fun of it. big grin

Haha, you surely didn't expect to see me, did you? I could be anywhere and everywhere! I could be in that bush or tree, even in that crumpled up piece of paper on your floor next to the trash!
