From the April 9, 1918 Miles City Daily Star:

Sharp Nose, the aged Cheyenne Indian who was run over last Friday by an automobile died yesterday morning at the Miles City hospital. Sharp Nose was 70 years of age and served as a scout for General Miles in 1877 up to the time of the latter’s departure. Sharp Nose was a member of the Casey Scouts, an Indian cavalry troop, and was at the Pine Ridge agency at time Capt. Casey was shot from ambush. The body of Sharp Nose has been turned over to his people, who leave this morning for Lame Deer, where internment will be made.

What I wouldn't give to have been able to interview him a week earlier!

If he were even born in 1877, he would be 141 yrs old. The numbers don't correlate.

Why do you think he was born in 1877? The article says he died in 1918 at age 70.

It helps to know that Amorette writes the Stardust column for the Miles City Star so she is always reading the old newspapers to pick out tidbits from the 100, 75, 50, and 25 years ago news.

I can never tell you what is going on today but I'm great about what is happening in the past!
