A New Russian Collusion Thread

"In a personal letter, Trump invited Putin to the 2013 Miss Universe pageant" by Shane Harris, Rosalind Helderman, Karoun Demirjian, The Washington Post, March 10, 2018

"During a Republican primary debate in November 2015, Trump said he knew Putin 'very well.'

But in July 2016, he told a CBS affiliate in Miami, 'I have nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do, I never met Putin, I have nothing to do with Russia whatsoever.'"

I don't know why Trump lied about knowing Putin. Time (and the Special Counsel's investigation) will tell. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, yesterday Trump's former campaign aide, Sam Nunberg, testified for 6 hours in front of the Grand Jury.

Well, today the Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee gave Trump a pass on its Russia interference investigation -- but the Democrats on the same House Intelligence Committee did not. Go figure!

https://www.nytimes.com/2...ussia.html

However, the Mueller investigation will continue, as will the Senate Judiciary Committee investigation.

And, recently Trump's Russian friend, President Vladimir Putin, didn't hesitate to adopt, and use a play right out of Hitler's vile anti-Semitic playbook. When Putin was asked about the 13 Russian citizens charged by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, looking into the election interference, Putin suggested, “Maybe they are not even Russians, but Ukrainians, Tatars or Jews, but with Russian citizenship, which should also be checked."

Ironically, I suppose Putin's comments were made about the same time as U.K. Prime Minister, Theresa May's speech, about a Russian military-grade nerve agent, being used to poison the ex-spy and several other people in England.

So, who do you believe is telling the truth -- Prime Minister Theresa May of England or President Vladimir Putin of Russia? Or, President Donald Trump?

So an Obama aide gave approval for the FBI to investigate the Trump campaign's Russian ties, which keep getting shown time and time again by Special Prosecutor Mueller to be accurate? And you want to lock Obama up?

What are you, an idiot?

Federal Judge, T.S. Ellis, III, says former Trump campaign manager, Paul Manafort, faces up to 300 years in prison -- unless he decides to cooperate with the Special Prosecutor like his co-defendant, Rick Gates, is doing. Manafort's cooperation would involve sharing details he knows about Trump campaign officials contacts with Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"More than 16 months after the 2016 presidential election, more than a year after the U.S. intelligence community concluded the U.S. had been targeted by Russian hackers and influencers and 45 days after the Congressionally mandated deadline to impose punitive sanctions on Russia, the Trump administration has acted.

Interestingly enough, the list of individuals and groups identified by Department of Treasury for punishment appears to have relied on the efforts of Robert Mueller's independent investigation into Russia's election meddling and possible ties to the Trump campaign - an inquiry the president has called a baseless 'witch hunt'."

"Trump Administration Sanctions Russians for Election Meddling and Cyberattacks"
by Peter Baker, New York Times, March 15, 2018

Finally! And, it's not fake news and, turns out, it's not a baseless witch hunt as Trump has previously claimed! Stay tuned!

"Trump Organization Is Subpoenaed for Russia Documents in Mueller Inquiry" by Michael S. Schmidt and Maggie Haber, New York Times, March 15, 2018

https://www.nytimes.com/2...ussia.html

Here's an astute comment from the article written by Marty in Andover, Massachusetts:

"Mueller is getting closer to the 'endgame' which includes the possible cooperation of Manafort via a plea deal. In the end, Mueller needs the evidence to prove that Trump allowed his 'branded' properties to be used as 'washing machines', i.e. for money laundering of Russian oligarch ill-earned monies running to the hundreds of millions of dollars. The Trump Organization clearly borrowed vast sums from the Russians after American banks turned off the spigot, and enabling the Russians to launder their money most likely benefitted Trump via less onerous borrowing terms. Of course, the Russians 'cultivated' Trump as well and undoubtedly had what is called 'Kompromat' on him, a portion of which was alluded to in the Steele dossier. The question remains whether Trump will 'blow it up' by firing Mueller. We shall see."

STAY TUNED, AMERICA!

"Mueller Wants Trump’s Business Records. What’s the Russia Connection?" by Ben Protess, Mike McIntire, Steve Eder and Jesse Drucker, New York Times, March 17, 2018.

Maybe this is why Muller wants the business records: "Last year, [2017] during an interview on Boston public radio, the golf journalist James Dodson recounted a conversation he had had with Eric Trump in 2013 on a newly opened Trump golf course in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Dodson said he had asked Mr. Trump about the company’s sources of funds, and Mr. Trump told him, 'We have pretty much all the money we need from investors in Russia.'

Also, why should Facebook make money selling the names and addresses of U.S. citizens to firms that then pass that personal information on to the Russians?

Not a way to make America great again! Facebook Sell-off on Wall Street. I'm thinking that a lot of Americans don't like Putin's agents having their addresses!

It's looking like Facebook will be liable for hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, in both privacy violations and a violation of an agreement with the FTC.

'Today’s sanctions send a clear message to Putin and his cronies that there will be a high price to pay for Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and Syria, and its attempts to undermine Western democracies, including our own,' McCain said in a statement."
