Rural Communities to be Hurt by Trump's Budget
Posted by Mary Catherine Dunphy (+1116) 3 months ago
It's sadly ironic that Trump's rural supporters will be hit hard by the cuts proposed in Trump's budget plan. I doubt Trump's rural supporters had this in mind when Trump talked about making America great again. Now, I suspect they will start to see him as the flimflam man and con artist that he really is. Personally, I'm hoping Miles City doesn't lose Holy Rosary Healthcare. I remember back in 1982 when the adverse effects of Reagan's budget cuts hit the rural hospitals in New Mexico, many had to close and Albuquerque became the primary hospital center of the state. If that kind of thing happens here in Montana with Trump's health care cuts, I foresee the rural hospitals in Eastern Montana closing and Billings becoming the hospital center. It's simple economics: When the government and insurance companies balk at paying health care costs, and poor people can't afford to pay for health care, hospitals lose their customers and can't afford to stay in business.

Trump's rural supporters knew exactly who they elected. They know that there must be an ending of government handouts to wean us off the teat, as painful as it is going to be. Trump's rural supporters feel sad that their elderly relatives are going to die sooner than later, and there's going to be a few more ramen noodle dinners. But country folks can survive.

Baloney, Gunnar. Do you know why country folk's baseball style hats have that extreme curve on the bill? Its from sticking their heads into their mailboxes looking for their government checks.

The USDA is to be cut 20% and programs to provide clean water systems for rural residents is going to be cut completely. So no small town or community in Montana can get help with their clean water issues. Aren't we lucky? Plus starving the elderly and children! It is so great! The more poor people who die, the happier conservatives are. Suffering is their favorite thing as long as someone else suffers!

It would be interesting to see how fast George Soros will jump in to self-fund his propaganda network, PBS and NPR, in the unlikely event that Congress whacks funding.

My guess is that such things are only useful to leftists when taxpayers pick up the tab. Air America is a prime example. Left to flounder after Soros got tired of writing checks.

If NPR goes, rural communities will be left to the mercy of AM radio and Limbaugh, Levin and Savage.

God forbid.

B3, while it is true that rural folks suckle on the government teat just as much as any other demographic in the country, the fact remains that we country folks are committed to tearing down the welfare state and starting over from scratch. Our elderly does not need Meals on Wheels so long as Walmart still stocks Old Roy. And, as Oddjob so aptly points out, our youngins don't need any more socialistic propaganda like how to be nice to disabled people like they teach on Sesame Street. We got DVDs of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, all put out by capitalists.

I see a lot more roadkill permits being issued.

Don't bullsh*t us with your fantasies about HBO's Sesame Street teaching family values anymore, Gunnar. Progressives destroyed that, the same way they do everything they touch. Most of the babysitting these days is done by "The Bachelor", "Marriage Boot Camp", "Braxton Family Values" or something similar. What else could explain why college snowflakes can't comprehend the difference between "to", "too" and "2".

Rural communities are not being destroyed by Trump. They are being destroyed by the progressives vision for America: no education, no work, meth cookers in every neighborhood and a flood of opioid-dumping "doctors" to keep the masses sedated.

I can just see George Soros ordering truckloads of Sudafed to be delivered to the Miles City drug stores, while medical schools in Berkeley teach young interns how to write an Oxycontin prescription in less than 5 seconds. Totally diabolical, those progressives.

You are so right Gunnar. Its high time we start punishin' people for not properly planning for their future! Especially those diseased weaklings and other complainers that are a drag on the income of the "Jobs Creators". At last the true dream of Ryan's magnificent conservative healthcare system can be a beacon for us all!

I love it when I get the stupid deflection from you four instead of any rational argument. What I would like to see is your explanation for why college snowflakes can't comprehend the difference between "to", "too" and "2" in relation to your claims of progressive success and moral superiority.

If you gentlemen are as "enlightened" as you keep telling us you are, perhaps you can explain to us knuckle-draggers why a World in the control of progressives such as yourselves is such a mess and on the brink of another global war?

I have no idea what you are talking about, "Oddjob". I sincerely could not tell if your commentary was supposed to be some sort of witty sarcasm or if your mind has been poisoned by too much fake news.

I guess your latest comment means that you were sincere, and to that I say, you sound like you are mentally ill.

I concur, Dave, that Oddjob does seem to be blithering a bit. To his "points", the recent college grad hires at my workplace have excellent writing skills. If they did not know the difference between "to, two, and too", I doubt they would ever have passed Technical Writing at Montana Tech.

And......Progressives control the world???? That is rich. Tell that to The Donald and Congress. Hell, Progressives don't even control Scandinavia, as the Norwegians are drilling for oil like fiends. I might concede Iceland to you.

One can only reach the conclusion that Oddy is just trolling these days. After all, he's got everything he's wanted, yet he's still fearful of a global war.

I do so enjoy it when the resident troll points fingers.

I would have expected such erudite students of history to have a much better understanding of how little it take to tip the scales. The World is a dangerous place and it gets visibly more so every day, to anyone who actually understands what happened in the previous century. The recent obsession with Russia-bashing and picking the old scabs, by Left-wing loons doesn't bode well for any of us.

In July of 1914, the assassination of a relatively insignificant European archduke set off a chain of events that plunged the 20th Century into two major global conflicts and an endless succession of "minor" wars that consumed the lives of countless millions of people. Estimates range from 50 - 300 million dead with endless suffering and trillions in treasure wasted because of several shots fired in Sarajevo. The repercussions from that murder continue on over 100 years later.

Today we have a madman on the Korean Peninsula, perfecting a delivery systems for nuclear weapons already in his possession. We have crazed Islamic despots doing the same thing in Iran. If they don't already have a nuclear weapon, when they get one, their target will be Israel, which already has nuclear weapons. Nuclear Pakistan grows more politically radical every day. The Pakistani madmen have an historic hatred of their nuclear neighbors in India. With the Taliban and Taliban sympathizers occupying most of the country, certainly nothing could go wrong there.

At the end of last year, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey was assassinated in a political statement to the Russians over their involvement in Syria. Turkey is a member of NATO and is growing more hostile to Moscow as they become Islamist-extremest. Had Putin's reaction to the killing of his Ambassador been more aggressive, what chain of events could that have possibly kicked off? Putin may take the murder of his diplomats a bit more seriously than Obama and Hillary Clinton.

What happens when the Korean madman has an "accident" and drops one of his missiles on Seoul or on Japan? The Chinese have made their intentions clear to protect North Korea from Western aggression.

When the triggering event happens,(and it will), it could be something as relatively minor as a dead diplomat or an "accidental" injection of a nuclear warhead. Hopefully, none of us will be around for the fireworks and until then, we can all continue to whistle past the graveyard.

Nothing worth losing any sleep over anyway, because it will all be over in a flash.

This just gets weirder and weirder.

Bob, I don't think Oddy is saying that Trump is in North Korea. I think Oddy is saying that Trump is Archduke Ferdinand.

But, I may be wrong. The thought processes of the Oddster these days....I will leave it up to someone else to figure that out.

You're right boys. Responding with ignorant drivel is pretty much the norm anymore. Since you gents have become the primary contributors here, the site has become much better suited for in-depth discussions on sh*t = poop, pu**y = peacoc*s, trolling poor old Richard, and showcasing Mary Catherine's developing OCD.

Have at it.
