I am normally not a clip and paste guy but there is no way (for me) to address this portentous terror in a civil manner.

For the entire story, http://boingboing.net/201...o-cha.html

Ironically named Whitefish, Montana seems to be a hotbed of American anti-Semitism. Blessed with a number of Jewish residents, as well as the mother of Richard Spencer, leader of the white supremacist National Policy Institute, this small town is suffering from Trumpism's open season on non-whites.

In response to an email from a local realtor, who happens to be jewish, asking Spencer's mother if she'd like to sell, bigots will march in Whitefish showing off their guns.

The ADL has this to say:

Andrew Anglin, the neo-Nazi who runs The Daily Stormer, a blatantly racist and anti-Semitic website, has ratcheted up his campaign of harassment against the Jewish community in and around Whitefish, Montana, including announcing an armed march in the town by white supremacists that he has scheduled for January.

Whitefish is the part-time home of Richard Spencer, a prominent spokesperson within the white supremacist alt right, and his parents. Spencer’s mother claimed in a recent article that she was being harassed to sell her property in the town because of her son’s views. As evidence, she made public emails between herself and a realtor, who happens to be Jewish, though Spencer’s mother did not point this out.

On December 16, Anglin reacted to the article by encouraging his “troll army” of neo-Nazis and other white supremacists to contact Jews in the small town and oppose their “Jew agenda.” Moreover, Anglin posted photos to his website of a number of Jewish residents of Whitefish, including a child, and superimposed a yellow Jewish star with the word “Jude” on the pictures.

Since the release of the emails, the realtor and her family have reportedly received numerous threats, as have other Jews in the town.

This is really bad news but, sadly, not too surprising given that Trump has appointed Stephen Bannon his Chief Strategist. By that appointment, Trump has emboldened the various hate groups in America.

I hope the police in Whitefish, Montana have been notified as well as the Montana Human Rights Network, the ACLU, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Read this article: "Here's why white supremacist groups love President-elect Donald Trump’s pick Stephen Bannon"

http://www.nydailynews.co...-1.2873208

Hopefully, the spread of hate groups' poisonous ideology and behavior will be stopped in Montana and, really, everywhere in the U.S.

So here we are again in the middle of a uproar generated entirely by the "tolerant Left" by meddling in something that is none of their goddamed business.

The Nazi's parents live and own property in Whitefish. The Nazi visits his parents on occasion. Everything is fine and dandy until some Leftist meddling idiot just has to go harassing the Nazi's mother to sell out and get out because of the son's activities elsewhere. So now there is a s**tstorm and everybody is freaking out because the Nazi's are pissed and coming to Whitefish to strut around and ruin the property values..

This doesn't have anything to do with Trump. This doesn't have anything to do with Steve Bannon. This has everything to do with some meddling Leftist douche who couldn't leave private people in peace.

Remember that when the tourists business hits the skids. Sometimes your friends and neighbors are your worst enemy.

Read what Tucker posted. Read any of a dozen articles on line. They all say the Nazi's mother published the e-mails she was receiving in response to being harassed to sell out by the local idiots.

http://www.rawstory.com/2...ainst-her/

There were probably a dozen people in the Country who knew what Spencer's National Policy Institute was before this dolt turned her guns on the mother.

I said that I couldn't be civil about this. Thank you Hand Job. Our cordial arm length association is over.

I am Jewish on both sides of my family. My father was shot down over Nuremberg and spent the last eleven months of WW ll in a Stalag Luft. He was trying to rid the planet of Nazi's at the time and they did their best to kill him.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

Who are you speaking for you ass hole? You really should change your Pseudonym from odd job to hand job. All I ever hear you do is stroke yourself.

I am a Jew, socialist and a liberal but no ones bleeding heart. I fought an unjust war and when I educated myself as to how the face and reasons for war had changed, I did speak out. I continue to speak out.

I have no fear of Nazis. I do fear those who chose to be silent. They are as culpable as the perpetrators that creep into the fabric of humanity like the thieves and cowards that they are. There were 250 Bolton's (Jewish Generation History organization) Poland, France, Germany, etc. that died in extermination camps. How many survived with tattooed numbers on their arm and memories of the terror they witnessed permanently etched into there psyche? We can not afford to be complacent and never forget.

If you have been paying attention to the events of the last two years and believe that we are not in peril, you are a fool. Screw civility... Fug Que.

Oddjob: I did read the attached article, as well as the one you linked (and others). The reason I asked for a timeline or more information, as your assertions don't seem to jive with the facts.

Here is a local piece from ABC Montana: http://www.abcfoxmontana....-notoriety

Here are some relevant tidbits that illustrate his mothers activities in the hate group:

Virginia’s state corporation commission still lists Sherry's home as the principle office location for Richard’s white nationalist organization, The National Policy Institute. And a dive into Sherry's Facebook page supports the fact that Richard has spent a substantial amount of time with his mother in Whitefish, snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, holidays.

Sherry’s Facebook page also has photos of her son when he spoke at the Mencken Club's annual gathering in 2010, A group the Southern Poverty Law Center refers to as “A band of white nationalists and pseudo academic racists.” Pictures also show Sherry and her husband attending.

I too have read his mother's post on Medium as she attempts to separate herself from her son's hate group.

But the timeline, business registration, and other official documents point toward her NOT being separate from her child's hate group. Businesses and individuals that support and encourage hate groups have every right to say as they wish... but they are not free of criticism or consequences of their choice to associate with and financially support groups the Southern Poverty Law Center has researched and appropriately labeled hate groups.

Are there businesses in MC that I don't support? Sure.
Are there brands I don't purchase because I'm "voting with Gay Dollars"? Sure.
And I'm sure you support businesses and organizations that jive with your values.
We are probably very similar in that regard.

Do I believe Sherry COULD separate herself from her son's hate group? Yes. She could choose to speak against her son's hate and NOT attend his gatherings/rallies.

But she is not making that choice today, or yesterday.
I have hope for tomorrow that perhaps she can make a more compassionate and moral choice to not hate. And, as I feel with anyone who disagrees with me, my door is open for us to come to common ground. Perhaps through compassion, the entire Spencer family can be reached.

And Tucker. My heart extends out to you for your family's loss and difficulty in watching America's own white nationalist and hate groups feel empowered to begin stepping into the light more and more recently. The only silver lining I may offer is my continued support and love, as well as with their "stepping out" we are seeing some people for what they really are. Perhaps having this stuff in the shadows allowed it to grow underground like mushrooms... here's to throwing open the doors and looking at each other in the face.

Here in the United States, to avoid a repeat of what happened in Germany and Europe during Hitler’s reign of terror in the 1930’s and 1940’s, the thing we all have to be concerned about is when free speech crosses the line into hate speech and then crosses another line and escalates into hate crimes of harassment and other forms of violence targeting Jews or other groups of people.

Just as a sad reminder, the Nazi’s didn’t just target Jews. According to the United States Holocaust Museum’s website:

“While it classified Jews as the priority “enemy,” the Nazi ideological concept of race targeted other groups for persecution, imprisonment, and annihilation, including Roma (Gypsies), people with disabilities, Poles, Soviet prisoners of war, and Afro-Germans. The Nazis also identified political dissidents, Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, and so-called asocials as enemies and security risks either because they consciously opposed the Nazi regime or some aspect of their behavior did not fit Nazi perceptions of social norms. They sought to eliminate domestic non-conformists and so-called racial threats through a perpetual self-purge of German society.”

Wikipedia lists even more groups the Nazis targeted including Catholics. Millions of people were killed by the Nazis.

I understand the citizens of Whitefish being concerned about neo-Nazi activities happening there. In the U.S., just as we have a First Amendment right of free speech, we also have a First Amendment of freedom of religion.

And now in Whitefish, the situation has been escalated to the point of an armed neo-Nazi protest march being planned in January, and the neo-Nazi website is publishing the names of all Jewish people living in Whitefish. (We also have a Fourth Amendment right to privacy.)

We have a First Amendment right to peaceably assemble and a Second Amendment right to bear arms, but personally I’m hoping when the neo-Nazis have their armed march they will leave their bullets at home. Hopefully, this terrible situation will not escalate any more than it already has.

Yet another case of the elite MC.Com posters reading something in a post that would seem to be true and not offensive, but interpreting it to their own sense of injustice where many see no intent. Some even respond with profanity as if that is the only way to get their point across. Not In Our Town works both ways. Maybe we have not learned much from the Salem Witch trials.

Ike, Sorry for hurting your delicate sensibilities. If thinly veiled profanity is all you have taken away from this thread, I find that sad and narrow.

I have asked Larry, in the past to drop the language censorship. Profanity for profanities sake is a waste of air. I do find it eloquent in some instances and a great exclamation or proclamation. I learned it from my grandfather. He had it down to an art.

All I ask is, you reread the thread and see if you can find something of substance or import. My pathetic attempt at skirting censorship are neither of those.

I have re-read the post that I commented on and what I read into it is what I posted. Contrary to others it seems that in no way was he defending the actions of the son, only the action of some that would place blame on the parents. Live and let live was the way I read it. Should your offspring be banished or less loved because of their beliefs or actions? Would you support Honor killings? As mentioned NOT IN OUR TOWN works both ways. I'm especially saddened that the Webmaster would construe my post as bigotry.

The First Amendment to the Constitution reads;
Congress shall make no law respecting establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or bridging the freedom of speech or the press or the right to peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for redress of grievances.

This may be fashionable to be interpreted a number of ways, but believe it to be valid today.

Earlier this year my family buried our Dad. He was a WWII veteran, was wounded and, at age 20, witnessed the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp. Its sad that so many witnesses are passing away now but at least Dad doesn't have to witness the re-awakening of these slimebags (and yes, Trump has emboldened these pigs, like it or not) crawling out from under their rocks to engage in their constitutional rights.

Yeah, Ike and Oddjob, they do have the right. Its what my father fought for. But those of us who disagree also have our rights. I remember Sara Palin complaining at one point how her constitutional rights were being infringed upon because any time she opened her stupid mouth, people complained. As if those who complained didn't have the same rights.

So go ahead, Ike and Oddjob. Be loud and proud that your peeps are planning a fun rally in Whitefish. But don't forget that the people in Whitefish, or anywhere in MT, don't have to like it.

I'm a little surprised at Ike.

Screw you Bolton. Don't lay that trip on me. I'm not defending Richard Spencer and his scum-bag followers. I'm bashing people like the meddling moron and you for playing right into his game. You confer a recognition to this creep he does not deserve and the fallout affects the whole damn State.. For what? An insignificant pissant publicity seeker who spends a little time visiting people who have no control over his actions.

I just love the way that bashing a meddling busybody for turning Whitefish into Skokie, Illinois when it was totally unnecessary makes me the neoNazi.

A month ago, if you did a Google search for "Nazi" you would have gotten Skokie. Today you will get Whitefish, MT, on page one and it's about to get a hell of a lot worse when these guys start "sieg heiling" up and down Main Street..

Who is going to win this battle? Most of you had never heard of Richard Spencer until this thread showed up. Now, thanks to "Love Lives Here" and people like the ones here with a serious reading comprehension deficiency, Richard Spencer is front page news.

I'm sure he appreciates the help with free publicity. Keep it up and you can probably get him on the cover of "Time" with Big Mountain in the background.

There is a way to handle situations like Spencer and Whitefish that requires a modicum of thought and common sense. Too late now, though, so I guess you are going to find out how well the leftist, meddling busybody, scorched earth tactics work out for Main Street.

Actually, Oddjob, I illustrated that the issues with the Spencers in Whitefish, MT aren't just limited to him hanging out there every now and then. His mother and father are participating in his groups/speeches/mailing. I don't know about you, but regardless of how old my children are, they won't be running a White Supremacist business/newsletter/group out of my garage or basement. She is participating. She is not innocent in this. Her attempts to "distance" herself from her son are easy to see through and disprovable.

If people wish to boycott HER business because of HER participation in said groups, they have every right to do so.

Now, I read through ALL of the correspondence posted online by Ms. Spencer. And she does not include HER replies, comments, or ANYTHING that she said. And a detailed reading of those documents, again, paints a different picture than the photo you're trying to sell of this situation.

Do I think parents should be punished for the sins of their children? No.
Do I think Ms. Spencer should be boycotted because of her kid? No.
Do I think people have the right to boycott her/her business if she's participating in said kids' groups? Heck yeah.

Do I think Ms. Spencer needs to release full communications if she wants to claim that something untoward is going on (we currently have ONE SIDE of the story, hers)? Yes. And I would gladly read those. And if something untoward was done by the real estate agent , then I believe some criminal action has occurred and I hope the justice system of Whitefish takes prompt action.

[And just an aside-- Yes, I had heard of Mr. Spencer when he first started hanging about in Whitefish. There was some issues with his group and the public library and other public facilities in that area. Whitefish has been battling a wee bit of White Supremacist action for years. Years. And there was no issue with Mrs. Spencer until stuff started being exposed on a national level --after young master Spencer's unfortunate Heil Trump junk--. Had she been able to claim ZERO affiliation with her son's garbage, she should have been left alone... but that isn't the case and she is, unfortunately, currently reaping the benefits (White Nationalist support??? ) and horrors (boycotted business/shunning) of her chosen associations.

Again, if you missed my write up above: I don't believe putting her out of business is the best way to communicate and to "change" her views. I think there could have been a more compassionate dialogue and resolution that doesn't involve literal Nazis. I admit, I am dying to read the full correspondence between her and the agent, as there's been rumors that she lead said agent on and agreed to stuff and is now trying to "constructively edit" the dialogue to her favor. I have no citation. It would be enlightening to have more facts!]

But now this situation DOES involve Nazis. Like real Nazis.

How do we salvage this?

Another indication that Mr. Spencer isn't just a snow bunny or occasional Whitefish visitor: he has been expressing interest in running for Zinke's vacated Bouse seat. And he is a resident of Montana. When these intentions were announced publicly, peeps began digging into his residency status, associated addresses, and his little White Power group.

Once again to wipe the slate clean, the way I read Odd Jobs post, he was not in sympathy with the son nor his beliefs but was defending the parents who are persecuted for their son, which being a grown man they have no control over. Yes, as parents they allow him to live with them occasionally and probably regretfully let him use Whitefish as his home address. I can not speak for Odd Job but that is the way I interpreted the post.

I have no sympathy and abhor Fascist, Neo-Nazis, White Nationalists, as well as Citizens for constitutional Freedom. Freemen, Posse Unitas, KKK, Black Lives Matter, Black Panthers. Black Power and any other fringe group that hide behind the constitution. Without publicity they are just another nut-job fringe group that should be ignored, unless they turn to violence. Like in Whitefish publicity and recognition is their goal. This is the way I see it. Like it or not. I do not buy into any ism, but will fight to defend their right to their belief. Violence and rioting, destroying property is a different matter and should be dealt with in a different fashion. Pretending these issues do not exist is a cop out like hiding your head in the sand. Flame on, but While I may be old, don't think I'm a bigot.

And Bolton, as far as your phony righteous indignation that I am somehow stepping all over your sensibilities by pointing out the lunacy in this whole affair, zip it.

Odd Job, You failed to mention Ho Chi Minh. I admire him as a patriot as opposed to greedy, old, white men. I enlisted out of an average American family. Born in 1946 and raised in the 1950'S, surrounded by the same Naive, Ozzie and Harriet ideal that most urban kids did. Playing cowboys and Indians as a child graduating to playing army then hanging at the local burger joint and cruising around in my 55 Victoria. My dad was and is a hero to me. No matter how hard he tried to dissuade me from going into the military, I knew that I was 6'2" and bullet proof.

I wasn't, that was the beginning of my education. A world view, if you will. Without going into detail, I spent three months in Balboa Naval Hospital. Two years later I was discharged ( honorably )from a naval mental facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. Married a good woman, had a couple of kids and started college. I joined the college association of Vietnam Vets, commonly referred to as the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club. I made friends with people having common experiences, different effects. One friend became a mercenary, another into the priesthood. I became a dissenter, coke head and alcoholic. Mine seemed to be a common malady among my fellows. The "conspiracy of silence" (it's a thing) in retrospect wasn't as good a plan as hoped. Keeping things to yourself will kill you from inside. I count myself fortunate to not be living in a refrigerator box or dead. Nothing up my nose in thirty years but still enjoy a good IPA a couple times a month. I prefer north western hops.

Long story short (OOPS! too late) Wrapping yourself in the flag and cheering "We're number one" long and loud doesn't make it true. Just believing you're right also doesn't make it true, nor does it make everyone else wrong.

BTW hard as I tried, my son joined as well.

At the risk of being labeled a Neo Nazi, White Supremacist. Racist, Bigot, Antisemite, Holocaust denier, Far Right thinker, Which I'm neither, and deplore the actions and ideology of the same.

No matter which side of the spectrum you may be, why add fuel to the fire with cut and paste which seems to be an attack of "THE Sins Of The Mother" by 2 old "Biddies" who may have only lately become residents of Whitefish along with a Realtor with, "Does Love Really Live Here." All the rhetoric only feeds the ugly beast and promotes new devisiveness. With out publicity a story becomes a non topic.

I realize there are 2 sides to every story. As in any debate there are only winners and losers. Flame on, but that is my take. A racist is in the eye of the beholder.

Remember the Heavens Gate group in San Diego. They were going to catch the space ship that was hiding behind The Hale Bop comet? All 39 were unable to let go. They put on their new black jump suits, white tennis shoes and enjoyed a nice meal of phenobarbital, mixed with apple sauce and washed down with vodka and jumped the space ship. When the police arrived they found the space travelers just appeared dead.

1978, the followers of little Jimmy Jones. Their last residence was Jonestown Guyana. They shot a politician or two a reporter and some other folks. Later that same day 909 people, 304 were children, died of cyanide poising. Some tried to run but were shot down. They just didn't let go.

Idi Amin Dada, who became known as the 'Butcher of Uganda' for his brutal, despotic rule whilst president of Uganda in the 1970s, is possibly the most notorious of all Africa's post-independence dictators. Amin seized power in a military coup in 1971 and ruled over Uganda for 8 years. Estimates for the number of his opponents who were either killed, tortured, or imprisoned vary from 100,000 to half a million.

François Duvalier (French pronunciation: 14 April 1907 – 21 April 1971), also known as Papa Doc, was the President of Haiti from 1957 to 1971.[3] He was elected president in 1957 on a populist and black nationalist platform and successfully thwarted a coup d’état in 1958. His rule, based on a purged military, a rural militia known as the Tonton Macoute, and the use of cult of personality, resulted in the murder of 30,000 to 60,000 Haitians and the exile of many more. They had no voice.

Ike, Just because it didn't happen to you and me doesn't mean it didn't happen. So the question that occurs to me is, Do we ignore these little Neo-Nazi, SS want to be punks? I'm gonna go with NO, HELL NO.

Well, here is a piece of good news!

The Neo-Nazis have cancelled their planned march in Whitefish, Montana which had been scheduled for Monday, January 16, which is Martin Luther King Day. The organizers were calling it the "James Earl Ray Day Extravaganza."

http://missoulian.com/new...c8c18.html

Unfortunately, it is not all good news because the Neo-Nazis are planning to reschedule the march.

"On the neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer, Anglin promised to have the march at a later date but made no concrete plans. 'We will of course be rescheduling, probably for some time in February, and the march will be bigger and have more guns and special guests than we originally planned,' he said."

Here is the latest news about the intolerable situation in Whitefish, Montana.

"The Southern Poverty Law Center, along with its Montana co-counsel, filed suit in federal court today [April 18, 2017] against the founder of a major neo-Nazi website who orchestrated a harassment campaign that has relentlessly terrorized a Jewish woman and her family with anti-Semitic threats and messages.

The lawsuit describes how Andrew Anglin used his web forum, the Daily Stormer – the leading extremist website in the country – to publish 30 articles urging his followers to launch a “troll storm” against Tanya Gersh, a real estate agent in Whitefish, Montana. Gersh, her husband and 12-year-old son have received more than 700 harassing messages since December."

The lawsuit filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center describes a horrific hate storm of messages unleashed on the Gersh Family by followers of neo-Nazi, Andrew Anglin.
