I'm having problems with my desk top computer. I had it do a defrag I think on Friday and it hasn't worked right since. I don't know if that's what messed it up, I did get some of it back to working but still problems. I could use someone knowledgeable but not expensive.
Well whats it doing to not act correctly? Could be a virus..
Denny at Boss has done a great job when our office has needed computer IT assistance... I consider their rates extremely reasonable, although I don't know that "cheap" is the correct classification.
It was running really slow so suggested I defrag. like I said I think it was scheduled to defrag at 3am on Friday. It was ok yesterday but last night was messed up. The screen saver was all different colors looked like a puzzle and the icons were huge. I couldn't access my emails or internet. After fiddling around with display. I did get internet back and one email (gmail) but not easy to get into it. The other email for business etc. is (2003 microsoft outlook) I got this back but lettering is huge and since it is so large takes up whole screen and only half of emails are showing. I transferred some photos to this email and they are hard to see and look blurry. Someone mentioned a virus and I have windows 7 and it came with Norton. I haven't had problems with the computer before.Computer tower is HP about 1 yer old and the monitor is maybe 3 years old. I wish I could sell all and get a laptop.
Have you tried rebooting? Sounds like your video drivers are messed up. Probably doesn't have anything to do with defragging or viruses.
Most computers have a way to restore it to the settings either 24 hours or a certain number of days before. Perhaps you can just set it back to before you defragged it.
Yes I did reboot. How do I set it back? I've heard you can do this but I don't know how, haven't done it.
Once my Windows 7 laptop was acting slow and strange and when I rebooted it told me to start up in safe mode and then told me to punch certain things and it actually fixed itself...was really cool...Have no idea what it was or what I did but it sure fixed itself...
Mine is under: control panel then system security then action center then restore your computer to an earlier time. |
Thank you all so much, I took advice and reset and it fixed the problem.
Glad to hear it! If only life were that simple! |
exactly. Thanks again everyone.
