Let's Talk Miles City: Summer Workshops Theatre Workshop Come join us on Mondays, July 9 through September 7, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. The first meeting will be held at the Global Health Equity Foundation office at 615 Main St., Miles City, MT. Other locations will be determined by the director, Miriam Veltman miriam.veltman(AT)yahoo.com; This workshop addresses a variety of production aspects. We will be working closely with the Miles City Barn Players in a 10-week session to develop and train young actors in theatre arts. Meetings are scheduled for 90 minutes on Mondays each week. Young actors will be motivated to have fun, be creative, and express themselves. This workshop is part of a suicide prevention project in Miles City that focuses on teenagers. One of the goals of this workshop is to teach theatre as a form of expression. It is organized by the Global Health Equity Foundation as part of the Let’s Talk Mile City campaign. The final performance will premiere Sept. 7, the evening before the Miles City “Out of the Darkness” suicide awareness walk. Photo Workshop Come out and join Ally Madden ally(AT)funfotodesign.com, a professional photographer for the photography workshop: Making the Most of YOUR Camera! This popular workshop will be held at the Custer County Art & Heritage Center on July 14th at 11 am. We will be using basic, everyday items as photography "gear" to make your photos stand out. No matter what kind of photography you are interested in, Ally will share with you some simple tricks you can use to create more powerful images. Bring your own camera (digital, film, camera phone), a note pad, your creativity, and wear something comfy to walk around in. We will be taking photos of each other and the surroundings at the Custer County Art & Heritage Center. Multi-Media Workshop Join Tucker Inman tuckerinman(AT)aol.com for a Multi-Media Workshop on July 14 at 11am at the Custer County Art & Heritage Center to learn to develop a range of skills in working with video. You will gain hands-on experience recording with a High Definition video camera, editing on a computer, and transferring digital video between different devices (camcorder, PC, etc.). In the first session we will cover the basics. We will then collaborate with the photography and theatre workshops to capture their sessions on tape.
Our goal for this workshop is to create a short film that will be featured on the Lets Talk Miles City suicide prevention website. The video will document the photo and theatre workshops, and feature the instructors and participants. We may also videotape some other people in Miles City. The end result will be a summary/mini-documentary that will help raise awareness in the community about how to prevent teen suicide.
