Jeff Malcomson of the Research Center at the Montana Historical Society passed this along to the Montana History Group and I thought I'd share it with folks here.

The Montana Historical Society announces the first release of an on-line newspaper in the Montana Digital Newspaper Project. The entire run (1864-1869) of "The Montana Post," the Virginia City newspaper that was the first in the Territory, is now available. Please see our recent blog post about it for more info: http://mthistoryrevealed.blogspot.com/. Or go straight to the Library of Congress' Chronicling America Web site to view "The Montana Post": http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/.

Credit goes to the Library of Congress for grant funding and to Chris Ehrman, the head of the Montana Digital Newspaper Project, which operates within the MHS Research Center, and Tina Kirkham and Caitlan Maxwell who worked on the project. Watch for more to come of their efforts in the near future.
